Following the media’s horribly distorted, biased reporting of a minor confrontation between a group of Catholic high school boys and a Native American activist, which helped fuel a hateful online lynch mob against the students, many have called for lawsuits to be filed against the media figures and outlets that perpetuated the false story.
One such lawsuit could be coming in the near future. The family of Nick Sandmann — the young man at the center of the media-fueled controversy — has reportedly hired a high-profile attorney who specializes in defamation, libel and slander lawsuits against the media.
The Sandmann family have retained the services of an Atlanta-based attorney named L. Lin Wood, who has quite a history of defending individuals and families wrongly accused and smeared by the media, The Cincinnati Enquirer reported Thursday.
The news was announced in a release from the law firm of Hemmer DeFrank Wessels. Todd McMurty, an attorney with that firm, has already served as the family attorney for the Sandmanns.

Robert Barnes is supposed to be on Watters World this weekend. He is a serious attorney and from what I read a pretty conservative sort.
I think the Sandmann family wanted a personal attorney to represent them separately as their son has been singled out the most of the group.

Hope he sues the NYTimes but good, with all the smears and lies they’ve been getting on with. It’s time. Mene mene tekel upharsin.
They did the correct thing. When thugs act in a threatening way, it's often to test for vulnerability. If they had acted frightened or even insecure, they'd be identifying themselves as potential victims.

Every time you think it can’t get any worse, it does. Going after these boys the way they did can make one physically ill. I want to see every smug, arrogant commentator, celebrity, wannabe celebrity pay thru the nose.

I too am Catholic. Those bishops behaved cowardly. I will always be catholic but am disgusted with church hierarchy from the pope down. And this is from someone with priests, nuns and brothers in the family.
