“You don’t really know the Donald Trump I know.”
Many right-wing figures lined up Friday night to criticize President Donald Trump for temporarily ending the government shutdown for three weeks without having convinced Congress to fund his proposed U.S.-Mexico border wall.
Controversial commentator Ann Coulter called Trump “the biggest wimp ever to serve as president” and Fox Business host Lou Dobbs said Trump had been “whipped” by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).
Fox News’ Sean Hannity, however, had a different take.
The “Hannity” host, who is a staunch supporter of the president and even joined him on stage at a Missouri rally ahead of the 2018 midterms, insisted that Trump still “holds all the cards” when it comes to negotiating with Congress for the wall.
Hannity claimed that Trump would simply declare a national emergency to obtain the funds if he couldn’t seal a deal for the wall with Congress during the next three weeks that the government is reopened...

An “EMERGENCY” declaration by the President of the United States will NOT take MONTHS of litigation. It will quickly go to SCOTUS and they will HAVE TO take it. No lower court would be allowed to decide this.

Says who? You mean the 2 THOUSAND mile wall that Trump NEVER talked about? Hundreds of miles of wall could be built, where most needed. AND... Trump will have FOUR MORE YEARS to build hundreds more miles of wall.

WRONG AGAIN! Trump will complete whatever portion of wall he intends to complete.

Ditto. This board seems to have been overtaken with angry anti-Trumpists who, presumably, would rather see Hillary in office right now.
FR is full of thoughtful people who do not always agree but who remain courteous. Such discourse naturally helps to perfect one's thinking.

If I criticize the head coach, it’s not because I am rooting for the other team.
I’d like to think of it more as advice than criticism.
Declare a national emergency then tell the democrats you had three chances to do something and you FAILED again you have nothing of worth.
The Dems never attack their own. The Republicans not so much.
Instead of waiting to see how this plays out there are some who immediately turn on the President.
Who else have you got? You going to vote for one of the Dems? Because when you weaken our side you strengthen theirs and believe me, they gloat over it and profit by it.
We need the man, he’s done right by us. Support him.

Yeah—because Trump seems to have decided that deporting the 30 million illegals here is somehow an expendable priority at this point, so he can buy a few miles of fence for a massive new amnesty.

That, too, but that takes longer than the Left plans for the immediate future. I listened to one commenter on Fox last night who said that the migrant flow across the border was up to 60,000 a month. If that is remotely accurate, we are being inundated by a human wave attack and the Rats will undoubtedly get as many of these people registered and voting to make sure 2020 reverses the Trump aberration and that their rule is never again challenged. We either stop the attacks or the demographics will end the US as we know it, almost immediately.
Were you expecting no losses? Which Repub has done more?
Let me use another analogy.
If Trump was approaching Omaha beach on June 6, 1944, he would have said, "You know what? Why don't we come back in a few weeks. Just think, the weather will be much nicer."
The shutdown is not technically over. It will be back in 3 weeks.
I trust it was just a 4D chess move. If not....
