World War 3: 'Rapid military escalation' occurring between Iran and Israel
Express UK ^ | 1/23/19 | Charlotte Davis

World War 3 fears were sparked this week after Israel hit the Syrian capital of Damascus early on Monday as part of its increasingly open assault on Iran's presence there. In response, Iran issued a chilling message to arch-enemy Israel – warning it is “impatient” and ready to confront and destroy the nation in a statement issued just hours after Israel launched the air raids in Syria.

The former Pentagon official Michael Maloof has warned the situation between the two states is getting “quickly out of hand” due to the “intensified Israeli attacks”.

Mr Maloof told RT America: “You have got to keep in mind that the alleged Iranian attack was in response to a prior Israeli attack on Syria.

“So, basically, the Israelis started the whole thing by firing rockets at their sites at the side of Syria.

“So what this indicates is a very rapid escalation that’s occurring and Netanyahu himself basically stated that he is only going to intensify and I think this is also a prelude to something even more serious in terms of probably creating even greater uncertainty and conflict within the region itself.

I lived two years in Iran during the fall of the Shah and the entrance of Khomeini. Iran will not launch a first strike nuclear attack against Israel or the US. They know it would be national suicide. Despite the rhetoric, Iran is a rational actor.

War is getting closer. Iran is establishing, at least attempting to, forward facilities in their colony, Syria, in final preparation for for the decisive war that will bring about Israel’s disappearance from the earth per Gen. Nasirzadeh, head of their air force. Who likely desires a dedicated airfield, but can't defend one. Israel isn't pleased about troops, supply depots and missles for the purpose of their destruction, so attack them. To many, it's Israel bringing the region to the brink of war. After all who needs Israel, and who cares what happens to the populace. Interestingly, Arab states seem to be drawing closer to Israel.

An Iranian attack on Israel from Syria, demands an Israeli attack taking out Bandar Shapur from Saudi Arabian air space.

The agreement is I believe in place to permt the IAF raid

“Interestingly, Arab states seem to be drawing closer to Israel.”

Otherwise, they are next. They sit on the heaps of oil wealth, ripe for the taking.

“Iran was unleashed due to foreign policy blunder of deposing Saddam Hussein in Iraq.”

Iran was “unleashed” by oil sales, North Korean and Russian assistance developing ballistic missile and nuclear technologies, lackluster opposition from the West and outright support from Obama.

Iran has developed the very same technologies Saddam was developing before the West intervened to eliminate them.

Iran intends to use its missile and nuclear capabilities for the very same purpose Saddam intended -to threaten the West so it can bully its neighbors into political, economic and military submission.

It’s called tribalism. It’s how Arabs have governed for thousands of years.

You display a very poor understanding of the Middle East, its culture, its values and the ambitions of its leaders.

Your Blame America First myopia is pathetic.

LOL Saddam kept Iran under wraps for a decade, while the Iranians were freely selling their oil.

There is no way Iran would dominate Iraq like they are doing now,
With Saddam in power.

So I repeat, invading Iraq was the biggest foreign policy blunder since Vietnam war.

What a jumbled, disjointed mess of reasoning.

In the Iran - Iraq war the West nominally supported Iran against the belligerent Iraq. As history proved Iraq under Saddam was the much greater threat than Iran.

The Iran - Iraq war ended in 1988. With oil funds freed from of paying for the war Saddam accelerated his weapons development after the war. Saddam was always the biggest threat, as 1991 proved. You are of course aware of his Ba’ath party’s intention to unite all the Arab countries as well as Saddam’s view of himself as the supreme Ba’athist leader to do this by force if necessary?

With Saddam gone (thanks to the West) Iran has been developing the same weapons as Saddam, for the same reasons.

Whatever credit may be ascribed to Iran for defending itself against Saddam was expended long ago when Iranian-trained and supplied ‘volunteers’ invaded southern Iraq in 2004 and remain to this day.

The only “mistake” in the region was Obama and the Democrats pulling US troops out thereby ceding Iraq to the Iranians, and the region to ISIS. Both were empowered and emboldened by the US withdrawal.

Good afternoon.

“Interestingly, Arab states seem to be drawing closer to Israel.”

True, but you still can’t trust them.

Sorry.

Israel is a land bridge between three continents. Babylonians needed Israel, so did Persians, Greeks, Muslims, Crusaders, more Muslims (Mamluks), still more Muslims (Ottomans), and the British. Plenty of archaeological evidence that ancient Egyptian pharaohs staged multiple campaigns against the Canaanites for the same reason. So long as we’re in possession, nobody can use the land bridge. And that really pisses them off. All this talk of Palestinians this and Palestinians that is just window dressing and disguise for their lust for a land bridge, which is pretty outdated. If you have planes and there’s a huge, honking canal in Suez, you don’t really need a land bridge. Only we Jews truly love the Land for itself.
