You put too much confidence in the common sense of her constituents.
She expected nothing but good press, and constant fawning. She really doesn’t understand the basics of being a public official. Being in the public eye also includes “people saying, like, means stuff” about you. Suck it up, buttercup.
I’m predicting she won’t even make it through the first term.
Contrary to popular opinion, this is just the kind of strutting and crowing that has kept Maxine Waters in office lo these many years. We have the unfortunate combination of circumstances of having a very low-information electorate in that district combined with no effectual organization to combat AO-C’s excesses and distortions.
AO-C may never rise above the “gadfly” level of nuisance politics, but in a way, her distractions could help the Republicans long-term, if the Republicans could bring themselves to use AO-C as an example of what the Republicans definitely are NOT.
But no, they will treat AO-C gingerly, “Don’t hit the girl”, and pay the price for their timidity in the face of brazen and rather illogical attacks.
I disagree. She is a darling of the liberal media and that's not likely to change. Unless the demographics in her district change, the low information Hispanics and socialists who make up her constituency will re-elect her ad infinitum.
