President Trump left Washington on Thursday on a trip to McAllen, Texas, that he did not want to take to discuss a crisis on the border that Democrats say does not exist.
Their disagreement has led to a protracted shutdown affecting vast swaths of the federal government that have nothing to do with the construction of a wall between the United States and Mexico.
But as the government shutdown neared the end of its third week, the president left Washington with no additional negotiations scheduled with congressional leaders. In remarks to reporters on Thursday, Mr. Trump left open the possibility of declaring a state of emergency, which could allow him to bypass Congress to fund the wall.

I agree, it’s my take on this whole anti funding from the Dems. Chuck, Nancy and the media kept repeating how President Trump hasn’t fulfilled his campaign promise yet. They want him to fail, thinking he will loose his supporters. Hah! Idiots!

POTUS Trump is a unique president. Because of following reasons:
>> Trump is a rare politician who actually tries hard to keep campaign promises. Career politicians give speeches which sound great but then vote as directed by their donor class.
>> Trump is richer than all previous 44 presidents combined.
>> Trump has signed more paychecks on the FRONT than all previous 44 presidents combined.
>> Trump is not a hostage to his ultra rich donors. Career politicians must comply with wishes of their mega-donors or they lose elections due to lack of campaign cash.
>> Trump has done business with more people all over the world than all previous 44 presidents combined. With that many dealings, it is easy for any witch hunt prosecutor to find some people who have not followed the law. I have not seen anything in those indictments with direct involvement by Trump. For example Manafort charges are all before he signed up with the Trump campaign. What Cohen is charged with has nothing to do with Trump directly.

President Trump ought to bring up that Pelosi and Schumer approved 500 million of American taxpayer dollars funding a 287 mile border wall last year in Jordan.

I would be delighted if he did it while he’s at the border. Then they’d hastily build a barrier to prevent him from getting back to his airplane! Well, then - there are helicopters..I think Nancy’s daughter misspoke when she said her mother always wins - I think she meant Trump!
I think he's close to declaring a national security crisis and will use funds from the DOD to build the wall.
His Oval Office speech, his abrupt walkout on the resistant democRAT leadership and his visit today to the border in Texas, are just teeing-up that choice.
They just want his head on a platter as a FReeper wrote on another thread. They don't want to do anything that would make Trump look good.
But if he does go this route, forget the steel "fence" because it was just an overture to the democRATS for them to give him the $5 billion. Besides, I read yesterday that most of the steel would have to come from China, given our depleted steel industry. Also read this morning that a test steel prototype was sawed through.
Build a real wall with concrete that will stop the illegal invaders or at least slow them down enough for the Border Patrol to do a proper job in apprehending and processing them.
And forget the $5 billion. If he's going to make this choice and by-pass Congress, go for the whole $21 billion+ it's estimated will be needed to build the whole thing out of concrete. Get if from the money the DOD turns back over to the Treasury for not spending it in their budget fast enough.
Forget the steel fence. Go for the concrete barrier like the Israelis built. It has proven almost 100% effective in keeping terrorists out.
I think he has gotten legal advice to proceed exactly as he has. He is building the political and legal foundation to justify the next step. Brilliant, imo.
Start selling off some of the Federalized lands that the Democrats set aside for their own shady deals. Start by selling cheaply to the ranchers whose cattle graze or grazed on suddenly off limits land.
Trump is a unique President because he isn’t a politician.

The thing I worry about most is what happens when the next Democrat president declares a state of emergency over a school shooting and starts (attempting) to confiscate guns.
Trump went on TV and pleaded with the democrats and the dumbocrats. Schumer and Pelosi said no to him so now he is able to do it as an emergency, with public proof that the dumbocrats aren’t for our safety and financial security.
He played this nicely, IMHO.
Speak from the Oval Office with numerous 4’ X 4’ photos of Pelosi’s house—Ryans’s house—other congressional critter homes with WALLS fully evident.
