Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has confirmed it is cutting 4,500 jobs, with the substantial majority coming from its 40,000 strong UK workforce. Most will be in office roles as the company wants to simplify its management structure. The cuts come on top of last year's 1,500 job losses.
JLR is facing several challenges, including a slump in demand for diesel cars and a sales slowdown in China.
The firm has also complained about uncertainty caused by Brexit.

I’m sure this has nothing to do with the abysmal reliability of their vehicles.
LR and Jags are strictly lease-only vehicles.
The only LR I ever owned was in the shop every other month. It got to the point that I had a plastic bin with all my stuff that I’d move between my vehicle and the loaner from the dealership.
Amazing when it was functional, however.
The only people I see driving jags look like they shouldnt be.
Balding, middle-aged men hanging out around the local high school, looking to pick up girls.
Re-start production of the E-Type. Pretty enough to overcome reliability. Who needs reliability, anyway?
Does not score high on reliability scales, but most high performance cars don’t either. Regular dealer maintenance can be an amazing thing. Things work. Now working on my third Jag at 93K miles and no problems other than routine replacments.
Jaguar reliability improved fantastically after Ford took over.
Pity that momentum was lost to Tata.
The only people I see driving jags look like they shouldnt be.

Jag-offs is what I call them.
Luxury autos are mostly designed to sell new ones every few years. Long-term reliability isn’t as important for lux vehicles as it for mainstream models.
In the last year, Jag sales are down, but Land Rover, which sells a lot more vehicles than Jag, 2018 sales are way up.
Finest Indian cars on the market. No surprise they want to move back office functions from high cost England to much lower cost India.
I had a Series III Rover back in the early ‘70s. Header pipe replacements every 12,000 miles or so. Plus electrical issues, the locks didn’t work, and a myriad of other things. Loved the thing but it was too unreliable.
But I bet these two items may be bigger drivers for their losses...
Another massive flashing red light is a collapse in sales in its biggest market - China.
And JLR is also one of the most heavily exposed car makers to continuing consumer confusion about the wisdom of buying a diesel car in the aftermath of the VW emissions scandal.

muzzies don’t work .... they rape, kill and make muzzie babies.
What good is there in owning a massively depreciating, rolling money pit that doesn't work and can't be relied upon to take you anywhere without the fear that it may break down before you get to where you are going.
I’ll stick with vintage Jeep products.
It's the other way around. Jag sales are up and LR sales are down.

Jaguar YTD on 30,000+ units: down 24.15%
Land Rover YTD on 92,000+ units: up 23.97%
They’re, not “totally unreliable”, come on, no car company much less a luxury car company can compete in today’s market place with “totally unreliable” cars.sure, I had a Jag in the mid 80’s and my older brother had a Triumph in the early 70’s, I know all about the issues. I’m on my second Range Rover Sport supercharged, not a single issue with the first one, nor any so far with the current one. In fact, it’s one of my all time favorite vehicles, and I’ve had a bunch.
Dudley Moore was in a hilarious movie years back titled, "Crazy People." The premise was he was an ad exec who had a nervous breakdown and checked into an asylum. While there, he started his own agency with the inmates, and their philosophy was to simply be brutally honest in their ads.
One of the ads I still recall because it was so spot on was for Jaguar. There was a picture of a hot chick in a black dress standing by a (then) late model Jag. The ad text above it read, "Jaguar. For men who'd like hand jobs from beautiful women they hardly know."
