18 month old Richie needs your prayers

Prayer Warriors have seen this but we need everyone to offer prayers for Richie.

Picture a few months old but the only one I have available.

First a little history .... The last week of November, Richie received several vaccines which included the flu vaccine.

On December 2nd, he was hospitalized with paralysis of his arms and legs. He was put on a respirator and the outlook was bleak. I posted a note on FB asking for prayers from family and friends.

Richie is the grandson of a cousin who is more like a little brother than a cousin.

Prayers continue

Ok I'll share a silly story about what happened last Friday.

My brothers in an assisted living program one town over.

He can drive and often helps people in the same program.

I try to keep his car(04 Sable) running and have enlisted my son, who does most of the heavy lifting now.

Last week his coil spring broke and tore a gash in his front tire.

My son(25) is a talented mechanic had already replaced the tire on Wednesday and

offered to change out the strut in the parking lot of my brothers apartment.

We planned get it changed Friday evening before the big snow that was on the way.

Dad(me) forgot the Mapp gas torch and we really needed it.

While we were warming up in the truck waiting for Mrs 7 to drive it to us we were talking about how

this job was turning out to be much more difficult than either of us expected.

I mentioned that it would be great if

(the Archangel -Repair Man of the Universe) would show up and give us a hand.

When the torch arrived we went back to it and after much heating and hammering to our surprise the strut pin broke free.

It still wasn't going down without a fight and we continued to wrestle with the lower control arm.

It was cold and difficult, we considered giving up at least twice.

Then suddenly a stranger appeared and approached us saying in a thick spanish accent. "I want you to keep working... I don't want you to stop working"

As the man turned to take his family inside I asked him his name...

Turns out my son had parked his truck in his spot and he was probably just saying that we didn't have to move it but

his encouraging message gave us both incentive and confidence that we needed to finish the job,

just as the heavy snow began to fall.

Oh and my brothers name...

They are giving him PediaSure. I don’t know how many calories but I’m sure they won’d let him starve. It is a great children’s hospital.

Jesus, in gratitude we humbly pray for Richie Bonilla’s healing. We pray for more of The Holy Spirit’s touch on this child of yours so the medication that caused this exits his little body and the normal function of all cells return. Then, Lord, keep the angels stationed around him protect him from any darkness so that only Your light is shining in and through him. Strengthen his parents and loved ones as needed to continue the love that binds all healing. Continue to guide the medical staff attending to him with all wisdom and humility. Let not an eye who is seeing this healing deny that it is all your mercy and the power of prayers of the faithful. We ask this in the name of God our Father, Jesus Christ our Savior and The Holy Spirit our Comforter. What an amazing God! AMEN. (Sending an anointing of Richie’s forehead with the cross of Jesus via the Spirit.)

I believe when his Daddy is there he will improve/eat more. Also, if it is allowed some ice cream might help. (I like Breyers, I can pronounce all of the ingredients. :)

Maybe some nice soup? Add extra chicken broth for extra protein.

I am encouraged by the voluntary movement. I pray for continued progress and another smile for his Daddy.

I’m not sure whether this is just news or a set-back. I’ll try to relate it like it was sent to me.

“Brian says they want to put a PEG in his abdomen for feeding and medication.

He is eating but not enough.

The doctors also want to do a cat scan or MRI because sometimes he acts like he isn’t there. We will see I guess”

I’ve asked but have not received an answer but, could the ‘problem’ be with the medications he is taking? I’m going to continue believing that God will restore Richie to perfect health.

Is the PEG so he can still eat and just supplement it?
In would imagine if he’s on medication that could cause him to be out of it occasionally. It’s good he likes to eat, but his tummy is probably small so he’ll have to work up to eating more.

On the bright side, his doctors want to be sure he's receiving enough nutrition. Hope little Richie is on the road to recovery, however slowly.

A PEG tube is a feeding tube placed into the wall of the stomach by cutting a whole from the outside, into the abdomen. It can stay in as long as necessary, but can be removed when he’s all better, and the opening in his stomach they made for it will heal up. It is used for medicine, food, and water, for a patient who doesn’t eat enough on his own. They’re also used for patients who cannot swallow, but that doesn’t sound like Richie.
