President Trumps 2020 campaign manager on Tuesday fired back after Sen.-elect Mitt Romney (R-Utah) wrote a searing op-ed criticizing the president's character.
In a tweet, Trump's 2020 campaign manager Brad Parscale invoked Romneys failed 2012 presidential bid, accusing the incoming senator of lacking the ability "to save this nation."
The truth is @MittRomney lacked the ability to save this nation. @realDonaldTrump has saved it, Parscale wrote on Twitter. Jealously is a drink best served warm and Romney just proved it. So sad, I wish everyone had the courage @realDonaldTrump had.
Parscales reaction came shortly after Romney penned a Washington Post op-ed slamming Trumps character and his time in office.
"With the nation so divided, resentful and angry, presidential leadership in qualities of character is indispensable. And it is in this province where the incumbents shortfall has been most glaring," Romney wrote.
Romney, who was the 2012 Republican presidential nominee, spoke out against Trump during the 2016 election.
It is well known that Donald Trump was not my choice for the Republican presidential nomination, Romney wrote. After he became the nominee, I hoped his campaign would refrain from resentment and name-calling. It did not. When he won the election, I hoped he would rise to the occasion.
After two years in office, Romney wrote that Trump had not risen to the mantle of the office.
Romneys remarks came two days before he will be sworn into Senate on Thursday.
I do not intend to comment on every tweet or fault, he wrote. But I will speak out against significant statements or actions that are divisive, racist, sexist, anti-immigrant, dishonest or destructive to democratic institutions.
After the horrific stand-down of the RNC for the 2018 elections, can we please get that Romney relative out of the chair position there?!?
Everything about Romney is horrid. I am so sorry I was suckered into supporting him for guv in MA—an office that he was self-absorbed and pathetic at.
So why does he pick a fight right now? He’s just proving he’s not a Republican at all. He’s happier being a loser than winning for his party.
I’d prefer to never see the name of “mini-$#@%” again!
What I like is Romney doesn’t rate a comeback from the President. He gets slammed by the campaign manager.
Flake Mclame combo platter
State R party, RNC, both my senators, McConnell...and anyone else I can think of will hear from me.
Romney has a teny, tiny, tenis...
He lost his bid to be POTUS..and he currently has a very ill wife, and he should be spending his days with her, and not miles and miles away from home just so he could get back into politics..
AMERICANS ARE NOT INTERESTED IN HIM..he won in Utah...but he lost in America...he is a loser and he will never be anything but a senator from now until his ending...
Let's make him a ONE TERMER and move on..
Romney IS a Republican. It’s Trump who is not. That’s why I voted for him (Trump). No more big-government globalists for me.
Thanks tomkat.
Channeling Juan McCain.........ooooooh. He makes me sick!!!

Too bad mitt didn’t have the spine to find these bold words to describe his opponent, barack. Hussein bin soetoro.
Or, the hildabeast, for that matter
Sorry, but Mormons think that an ancient Egyptian scroll contained some secret knowledge about Jesus being among the American Indians.. Oops, then they deciphered hieroglyphics. Romney is a Mormon, therefore hes a moron.
Perfect image.
Just saying, I supported Romney last time, because the alternative was even worse.
I won’t make that mistake again.
I don’t care who he’s running against, I will NEVER vote for Romney again.
Ever.
No matter who he’s running against. I will not.
For any reason.
Never.
I’m hoping President Trump gives Mittens a phone call to ask him “What’s up? If Mittens doesn’t give a good answer, I can imagine Trump’s next Twitter bomb that kicks Mitten’s ass! With Romney’s recent treachery, the following reveals the extent of his malignant character:
.@MittRomney has announced he is running for the Senate from the wonderful State of Utah, Trump wrote on Twitter. He will make a great Senator and worthy successor to @OrrinHatch, and has my full support and endorsement!
Romney, the 2012 GOP nominee, responded with a tweet of his own.
Thank you Mr. President for the support, he wrote. I hope that over the course of the campaign I also earn the support and endorsement of the people of Utah.
I didn’t vote for him against Obama and I’m glad Obama beat him. Obama, for all his faults, was a better president than Romney would have been.
I’m so glad Obama beat Romney. Obama wasn’t my cup of tea, but Romney would have been worse
