President Trump’s 2020 campaign manager on Tuesday fired back after Sen.-elect Mitt Romney (R-Utah) wrote a searing op-ed criticizing the president's character.
In a tweet, Trump's 2020 campaign manager Brad Parscale invoked Romney’s failed 2012 presidential bid, accusing the incoming senator of lacking the ability "to save this nation."
“The truth is @MittRomney lacked the ability to save this nation. @realDonaldTrump has saved it,” Parscale wrote on Twitter. “Jealously is a drink best served warm and Romney just proved it. So sad, I wish everyone had the courage @realDonaldTrump had.”
Parscale’s reaction came shortly after Romney penned a Washington Post op-ed slamming Trump’s character and his time in office.
"With the nation so divided, resentful and angry, presidential leadership in qualities of character is indispensable. And it is in this province where the incumbent’s shortfall has been most glaring," Romney wrote.
Romney, who was the 2012 Republican presidential nominee, spoke out against Trump during the 2016 election.
“It is well known that Donald Trump was not my choice for the Republican presidential nomination,” Romney wrote. “After he became the nominee, I hoped his campaign would refrain from resentment and name-calling. It did not. When he won the election, I hoped he would rise to the occasion.”
After two years in office, Romney wrote that Trump had not “risen to the mantle of the office.”
Romney’s remarks came two days before he will be sworn into Senate on Thursday.
“I do not intend to comment on every tweet or fault,” he wrote. “But I will speak out against significant statements or actions that are divisive, racist, sexist, anti-immigrant, dishonest or destructive to democratic institutions.”

“I posted that same sentiment throughout the 2012 primary, and was flamed mercilously for it.”
And I was one of the morons that voted for him, had bumper stickers and even donated to the party. And I believe Hillary in that era would have also continued the slow death had she been picked over obama.
I have a feeling Romney is setting himself up to oppose Trump in 2020 or to undermine him to the point the dems win or both. He’s a detestable open borders weasel.
I can see 2020, Romney running for the GOP and Hitlery for the rat party. It would be like the Polish of WWII trying to decide if the Soviets or Nazis were best for them.
The sick, insane, nutcase voters in Utah that voted for this weak sister, loser, Mitt Romney should instantly recall him and have another election to put someone that is a loyal republican in his place. Someone that supports the great POTUS, Trump we elected!!!

I think many of the people of Utah are going to be turned off by Romney’s treachery.
I wonder what initiatives Romney would say our grat President Trump has failed? Further, on what initiatives Romney would have had a better plan that’d have produced greater success. It is far too scary a place to go to imagine what a President Romney and Speaker Romney with Turtle Mitch would have wrought.

He will let the media use him, as he has just demonstrated, to foment discord against the one man willing to try to stop the slide into the abyss. In conclusion let us summarize this grand key, these “Fourteen Fundamentals in Following the Prophet”, for our salvation depends on them.
1. The prophet is the only man who speaks for the Lord in everything.
2. The living prophet is more vital to us than the standard works.
3. The living prophet is more important to us than a dead prophet.
4. The prophet will never lead the church astray.
5. The prophet is not required to have any particular earthly training or credentials to speak on any subject or act on any matter at any time.
6. The prophet does not have to say “Thus Saith the Lord,” to give us scripture.
7. The prophet tells us what we need to know, not always what we want to know.
8. The prophet is not limited by men’s reasoning.
9. The prophet can receive revelation on any matter, temporal or spiritual.
10. The prophet may advise on civic matters.
11. The two groups who have the greatest difficulty in following the prophet are the proud who are learned and the proud who are rich.
12. The prophet will not necessarily be popular with the world or the worldly.
13. The prophet and his counselors make up the First Presidency—the highest quorum in the Church.
14. The prophet and the presidency—the living prophet and the First Presidency—follow them and be blessed—reject them and suffer.
I testify that these fourteen fundamentals in following the living prophet are true. If we want to know how well we stand with the Lord then let us ask ourselves how well we stand with His mortal captain—how close do our lives harmonize with the Lord’s anointed—the living Prophet—President of the Church, and with the Quorum of the First Presidency.
