About half of the 14,000 U.S. forces will return home in the coming weeks, the start of a total pullout that could take at least many months
A day after a contested decision to pull American military forces from Syria, officials said Thursday that President Trump has ordered the start of a reduction of American forces in Afghanistan.
More than 7,000 American troops will begin to return home from Afghanistan in the coming weeks, a U.S. official said. The move will come as the first stage of a phased drawdown and the start of a conclusion to the 17-year war that officials say could take at least many months....

There will always be ‘tribes’....many violent...operating in Afganistan wanting to control the nations peoples. It was that all along regardless of what governance was in Kabul...and that’s not going to change.
Probably about the best that can be expected is preventing the terrorist training grounds from operating. And they can be blown up from above without troops being on the ground.

We won’t know what is actually happening ......there’s a lot of dis-information these days and that with purpose. Could be a realignment of troops, could be some coming home and others being sent out....WE don’t know.

BTW Putin announced this week, at his yearly pres conference about the US withdrawal, that he had not seen evidence yet of troops leaving Syria.

I remain very skeptical.
If is so important, why are we the only ones fighting and dying on a continent that has first world countries between us and them? Not to mention the geographical distance. 911 would never have happened if we were vetting the people coming into our country.

I take nothing from that, due to the source.

The will of the people living there to return Aphganistan to the modern age just are not sufficient to do the work of rebuilding their nation. Very true. They're extraordinarily resistant to western influences. Theirs is a backwards, brutish culture, and they intend to keep it that way.

Well of course it's just Putin saying that....leaders tend to say what they want their audience to hear and he's no different than the rest as I see it. Some are just more deceptive than others.
Frankly there's not a lot being ‘said’ in the political climate today that should be taken as is....it's too volatile and too unsettled on the world stage.

You know it’s almost impossible when the men see sex with a woman as dirty and prefer little boys. And their wifes are beaten and abused til they hate their husbands....it’s a terrible way to live.
I recall one of our female soldiers stationed there who said their ability to understand ‘life’ in general is so tainted by the demands of Islam and their clerics unyielding control of their minds that to show another way of viewing life IS impossible in their setting.

Id say ~90% of those who oppose this pull out are Deep State in one way or another. Fabian health of the state types.

Taliban has no incentive to negotiate any kind of deal. The only kind of "deal" you can ever make with that kind of evil is utter annihilation.

That’s right. The Tali control northern Pakistan.
Like I said, Pakistan.gov will go to war with the Taliban to run them out.
