Gandhi was one of the most profound thinkers of the modern era : During the middle of WWII, he realized that he could stop the war right in its tracks and bring about permanent world peace! His plan was to address the populations of the UK and USA over a radio broadcast, imploring them to immediately lay down their arms and surrender to Hitler & Tojo.

What a shame that the BBC and the American networks refused his request! Why, if they had only let him do this, think of the millions of lives that would have been saved when the bloodshed stopped and the global reins of power were handed over to the Nazis and Japan.

His super-human intelligence wasn't just on the global scale, though. It extended to his everyday life, as seen in his quick adoption of new nutritional fads such as drinking a glass of his own urine once a day. The health benefits of this are probably astounding, and no doubt he'd still be alive today if not for the assassin.

I wonder if there are any bronze statues of him holding a glass of urine up in the air like when someone drinks a toast?

If they insist on ‘putting Africa heroes first!’, then they need to get some heroes. There are many famous people from Africa, some known around the world, such as Nelson Mandela.
However, many of this small group come from a communist background, and have advocated for genocide of competing tribes.

There are most likely many honorable people in that continent worthy of recognition, but meanwhile, Gandhi did no harm in teaching others about peaceful means of negotiation.
Maybe that’s what this is really about.
Somebody wants change, and they don’t care how many get killed in order to achieve that change.
Martin Luther King was discarded in this country by some for much the same reasons.

But this came at a terrible cost in terms of global warming, through the outsized carbon footprint spewed out by diesel-burning tractors / farm machinery, vehicles on traffic-clogged roads, and in the exhalations of surplus human beings (who scientists have recently discovered are spewing out Mother-Earth-harming CO2 toxic waste gases on a 24x7 basis!)
  But after a year or two of Amin's "economic restructuring" - emissions from vehicles and farm equipment dropped to near zero, and human CO2 emissions nationwide were nearly cut in half!
   
• Many more triumphs .... EG: Creative fertilization techniques on arable fields, via large volumes of hemoglobin. Combatting mass starvation by quickly realizing it was caused by a tenfold increase in the "Population :: Food Ratio" due to disappearing food supplies, and working overtime to bring that ratio back down to normal. And much more.
