President Emmanuel Macron is to deliver an apologetic address on television and announce further tax cuts following a day of violent protests across the country on Saturday. Cities including Paris, Marseille and Bordeaux exploded into violence on Saturday, during the fourth weekend of demonstrations in a row by Yellow Vest protesters. Burned-out cars dotted the streets in several neighbourhoods in Paris on Sunday morning as cleaners swept up the broken glass from smashed shop windows and bus stops. Throughout Saturday, Macron skulked behind the majestic walls of his presidential palace in Paris while outside, his city – and his country – once again erupted in fury.

Wrong. They have plans and they have a chosen leader replacement. You just aren't hanging out in the right places.

The leader is a general in the army and I don't remember his name.

They also have a regional leadership structure and had given a list of demands to the French government last Fri.

It included the words "France First". Also a 20% tax cut for the middle class, end govt subsidies for Lemonde and other press, no signing of the UN migration mandate in Marrakesh next weekend, no more immigrants, more jobs..that's all I can recall for now.

If we don't support the yellow vest movements of the world we place ourselves in great jeopardy. Trump won't be able to hold back the globalist cabal forever, although I think he will be historically the one who saved us from it initially. And certainly here, for now.

So far, Belgium, Canada, France, Netherlands, Sweden, all protesting with yellow vests. We must support them and not be critical in our ignorance.

People want to imagine why things are happening in the context of what a good revolt should be about. I see no coherent group of actors leading the ‘revolt’. These riots have attracted the typical people who always engage in such actions. This isn’t about immigrants or freedom. That might be what ‘we’ want it to be about. But, the French want the state, but not have to pay for it.

Twitter is the only really trustworthy press in the world.

On it you will see signs about the coming UN mandate in Marrekesh in all of these countries who are protesting.

It is about migrants and carbon taxes. Many of the French protesting say they ran out of food and had nothing to lose. They are paying the highest taxes in all of Europe.

A woman fell on her knees before the police and cried loudly explaining how desperate some of these families are getting in rural France. And 70% of the protesters are from outlying provinces. They work all week and come to France on weekends to fight.

You are so not with this - please come on twitter. FR is home, but twitter is the best foreign press.

Many French refused to step out against their own people so on twitter you can see videos of French tanks with an EU flag motif on both sides. I listened to as many as I could and some of the riot police emerging from those tanks were speaking a very hard guttural language, not French.

They had a French flag in Paris yesterday. The first block said 1789, the next had 1968, and the last had 2018.

It's just like here. The big cities outvote the rural folk.

We just had an enormously wonderful senate candidate in Mi who lost to a complete loser Dem. He took all but 3 counties in Michigan and was hugely popular.

But Lansing, Ann Arbor and Detroit called the shots.

The people protesting are working all week in their native outlying provinces and driving to Paris to protest on weekends. They are truckers, fishermen, construction workers, teachers. They are already working.

They are paying high taxes for services that are not available where they live. Healthcare, transportation.

They submitted a list of demands to the French govt last Fri and one of them was "France First".

Unfortunately, when you say “not enough of them” you do not consider the fault of many French voters that taints our elections as well. It is just worse in France, due largely to their exhaustion with the system. Not Voting often gives the victory to the opposition because they consider it futile to vote. In municipal elections, for instance, one votes for a “List” not for an individual. The winners are proportional according to the vote totals so you never have winner take all. Result? Gross weakening of leadership power in a large
number of cases. Our systems are different so we do not understand their politics any more than they understand ours. You can also have a dozen different partys in an election resulting in a diluted governing body comprised of allies for the moment but full of constant friction.
in fact, the majority of French are right wing.
For too many years LePen stood for radicalism in the eyes of too many French. Marine is getting out from under the shroud her father cast on the name. France is a great country with great people and I believe eventually, sooner better than later, the best will prevail.

Absolutely wrong. 70% or more of these protesters are from outlying provinces, working, and slowly going under.

They submitted a list of demands to the govt last Fri which included "France First".

They have a regional leadership structure and a replacement for Macron chosen ( general somebody).

This is 100% about freedom, taxes, and immigration. You are completely wrong.

Michiganders who make up most of the state in area have rarely gotten too political because 3/4 of the state is rural with small towns.

Lansing, Ann Arbor, and Detroit call all the shots in elections.

John James won all but 3 counties in the senate midterm but lost the election.

You are correct, I am not on twitter. Just ask that young man who won the Heisman how good twitter is for him now!!

Seriously, it looks to me like you are trying to equate two different things. One is about twitter statements of a U.N. mandate in Marrekesh and the other is about the real pain some of these rural French people are feeling from these high taxes. Are the twitter statements from any of the yellow vesters at the protests? So far, all of the yellow vest protestors I've seen and read about are more along the lines of what you are talking about in the second part of your post. The poor rural French citizens getting taxed to death.

To be sure, this immigration situation from the Middle East is definitely playing a part in the general unrest in many of the EU countries. It's what the Brexit vote was all about, controlling immigration. It's brought to power the leaders in Poland and Hungary. It's bringing down Frau Merkel. But, I have not seen any evidence that the people in the Yellow Vest protests are protesting about unbridled middle east immigration. They have all said time and again it's about the gas tax and taxes in general. Look at how Macron is responding. He's not trying to appease them by talking about immigration policy, he's talking about repealing taxes.

"They submitted a list of demands to the French govt last Fri and one of them was "France First"."

Sounds like they could use a little 'Make France Great Again' slogan!!

I agree with you, the divisions in French politics are not unlike our divisions in American politics.

I’m surprised it has not spilled over to other EU states (except for Belgium).

Who is protesting? "The white middle class, the forgotten middle class in France," said Famke Krumbmüller, an expert in French politics at OpenCitiz political consultancy firm in Paris. Krumbmüller said the people protesting were those who pay the high French taxes and social charges — which cover benefits such as the state pension and unemployment insurance — but feel they get little in return because they are not the poorest in society."They're fed up with the rising prices and the cost of living," she explained. "They feel like the political elite is forgetting about them."

It's all one and the same. It's called globalism. Destroy borders, destroy class, skin color, and race, destroy nationalism, and most importantly destroy the middle class. Destroy the middle class with cultural marxism, high taxes, and immigration. Migrants are going to be living better than most of us in the countries that sign the mandate in Marrakesh. Have you read it?

I hope you are correct. You are right that I don't know enough about French politics to truly get the feel for the French electorate. In general I prefer our style of elections over the European model. They build the coalitions for governance after the election and since there are so many parties, the will of the people gets diffuse. We have the two party system and so we build our coalitions within the two parties and then have the election. In our system, I think you are right that we have more of a say.

My first time visiting France, as a military man I did not expect the respect and reverence the French people hold for their military. When I first saw the evening memorial at the Arc De Triompe with the laying of the wreath at the eternal flame I was truly moved by the ceremony. I also enjoyed the military museum at the Hotel De Invaledes. Perhaps they are more conservative than I imagined, but it disturbs me to hear from the protestors that they basically want someone else to pay for their pensions/minimum wages, a restoration of the millionaires tax.

Please choose a different photo. This one depicts a man weeping for his country as the Nazis march into Paris. No doubt he had fought in the First World War and knew what was coming.
The current situation is an exhibition of the French taking back control of their country against the Globalists and Brussels control which has destroyed their sovereignty. Better toshow the Sans Culottes or French singing the Marseillaise.
