Words like “independence” or “self-reliance” are disappearing quickly, primarily due to urbanization. Too many people want everything done for them by someone else, but they don’t want to pay for it.

While Third World countries have many problems, they also have populations that expect nothing from their governments - and pay nothing for them.

If you pull up the inflation numbers...for the previous five years, it was around 1-percent...this year, it’ll be around 1.8-percent, and the 2019 numbers are looking at near the same rate. Toss in the fact that the drought in central Europe has bumped up vegetable and fruit prices..it’s gotten to the working-class French guy. So bringing on this tax at this time....was a stupid idea, with no real gain except pushing people to buy expensive battery-powered cars.

It’s a CARBON tax hike.

That’s an important thing to keep in mind.

Carbon taxes aren’t used for government projects.

They go into the pockets of people like George Soros and Al Gore.

yup....and when the Yellow Jackets have dragged these from storage...

...you can bet that toy boy Macron felt some shivers.

Macron should say something like “read my lips- no new taxes”. Then, after the angry mobs have dispersed, he could make the “courageous” decision to raise taxes. Those who buy ink by the barrel would regale him as a “hero”.

The only way of squaring this circle, other than by borrowing, is by raising taxes.

No, the way to square it is by lowering taxes.

Confession: I have posted over and over that the powers that be would prevail against the debt in the time honored tradition of inflating it away. I was wrong. The Fed is not permitting the inflation

Conclusion: The debt is the Fed’s fault

There ought to be an index measuring the degree of Leftist leadership that holds power in a given country or region. The higher the index, the more power the Left has. IMHO there would be a high correlation with human misery and a high Leftist index.

I believe Central Banking is designed to create a world in a constant debt crisis. People can be manipulated if they are in debt.

That’s one reason a cowboy in the American west in the 19th century earned an average of $40 a month (+ room and board) and did just fine.

In a culture where you make your own stuff and grow your own food - and there are no property taxes - it doesn’t take much money to live.

Comment of the day from the Mish blog

“A bunch of rich people get together and decide that they need to fight climate change. They decide the best way to achieve this is by taxing poor people. Utter shock when the poor people start rioting.”

I take it you don't do the grocery shopping in your household.

” the Yellow Vests are primitive and driven by resentment”

The Media at its finest. Love how the MSM are bending over backwards to hide the fact that this is about a carbon tax.

Groceries and gasoline are not part of the inflation computations

They took food out of the "core" inflation equation. What a joke.

What is Core Inflation and Why Doesn’t It Include Food and Energy?

So inflation IS out of control. We are being misled. Yeah I get it. That gook made toaster oven is dirt cheap but the food you stuff in it goes up almost 10% / year. Globalists are so FOS. Free Traitors™ get ready for that guillotine!
