Tim Scott will oppose Trump judicial nominee’s confirmation

South Carolina GOP Sen. Tim Scott said Thursday he would oppose the nomination of Thomas Farr to the federal bench over his links to voter suppression efforts in North Carolina targeting blacks.
Scotts decision assures that President Trumps nominee will not be confirmed by the Senate, where retiring Arizona Republican Sen. Jeff Flake had already said he would oppose Farrs nomination.
Senate Republicans have a slim 51-49 majority and could not afford to lose more than one vote since all 49 Democrats oppose Trumps pick.
In a statement explaining his decision, Scott, who is black, cited a 1991 Department of Justice memo that was leaked this week, days before the Senate was set to vote on Farrs confirmation, South Carolinas The State newspaper reported.

If Tim Scott is a no, in the new Congress Romney, Murkowski, Collins and Hyde-Smith will be no votes also.

I didnt know that Scott is a jerk.
Apparently Scott has the same low expectations of blacks that the liberal whites have and assumes the other blacks are less than full thinking human beings. He is the only smart one and the other blacks are stupid.

Um, factually incorrect. We have a 53-47 margin in the Senate.

Oops. Sorry, we will. As another Freeper stated, just delay and denominate. Game over.

Ill bet a Senator Roy Moore Luther Strange would have voted for him. Better...this is what McConnell (and Trump) wanted.

Um, only nominally, now that Scott is signalling moving away from us, and God only knows what sway the Barbours hold over Smith in MS.

The very few times I’ve seen Scott and heard him on the radio...well...not impressed. Seems a bit of a dullard to me. Not much original thought.

That's the problem. We keep kicking RINOs to the curb, but they just keep popping up in another form. Scott seemed pretty good for a while, but lately he is sounding like Rubio and others that we thought were OK but aren't.

I don’t understand why it would be harder for a black person to get an ID than a white person. Maybe if they are an illegal but not if they are a US citizen.
What I see here is Scott putting his skin color before his country. The wrong kind of person who should be a politician.

So let McTurtle hold off the senate vote until the new senate is seated in 19.
To: angry elephant
Scott’s presupposition is that his fellow blacks are pretty damn dumb.
