Better outlaw those evil rubber bands, too.

Since when does the DOJ issue definitions of NFA? That has been the authority of the AFT, a branch of the Treasury department.

Many of the AR-15s displayed by the Clark County Sheriff had bi-pods on them. Wouldn’t this negate the advantage of a “bump fire stock?” The weapon could not “recoil” sufficiently to re-charge it, I wouldn’t think. But I’ve never owned a bump stock.

No delegated power for the NFA. It’s all just progressive lawlessness.

Department of Justice issued ...

Cowardly bureaucrats. Just like the leftist editorial boards. I want names; they are pubic servants after all. If we had the names, we could at least complain to our elected representatives, sign petitions etc.

Oh, I’ll just leave the tying error.

Idiocy aside, I note that the ruling says “When attached to a firearm”.

So, it is legal when not attached.

This is more of that idiotic stuff, like the ATF claiming that a wrist-brace for a pistol AR is legal, but the second you SHOULDER it, it becomes an SBR.

Read the description - it is FALSE.

While using a bump stock, the fire arm remains semi-automatic. To fire a round, it still requires that the trigger be manually operated.

Time for a lawsuit - which 2nd amendment group is going to file? I kind of doubt that it will be the NRA.

“President Trump has now implemented more gun control in his first two years than Obama did in eight”

He didn’t...Sessions did.

Read where you can achieve the same thing with bungee cords.

"helps protect first responders by preventing shooters from using a device that allows them to shoot a semiautomatic firearm automatically."

this of course is nonsense. The only place a bump fire rifle would be more deadly than firing standard semi-auto is in the one in a million situation of the Vegas shooting - where the shooter has an elevated position and is shooting into a large mass of people such that he cant miss, or perhaps shooting into a mass of people sitting in stadium bleachers. Why? Because otherwise you can't hit the broad side of a barn using them. For first responders, someone taking aimed shots, who knows how to shoot a rifle, would be much more deadly.

President Trump has now implemented more gun control in his first two years than Obama did in eight.

You are absolutely correct. So let's summarize:

In the 8 years of the Obama administration we got:

"Bump Stocks" were made legal by his ATF.

He signed a bill making it legal to conceal carry in National Parks.

He signed a bill allowing firearms in checked baggage on Amtrak Trains reversing a ban put in effect after 9/11.

He removed the requirement that the chief LEO of your county sign off on any application to purchase a real machine gun, thus removing a cumbersome step in the application process. (Typically this would be the Sheriff who almost would never sign off on this.)

I still support Pres. Trump 100% but he really needs to ignore some of his advisors. (Don't fall into the Bush-1 trap.(Bush bans importation of certain semi-autos after listening to Drug Czar Bill Bennett who said hunters wouldn't care, pissing off gun owners and loses reelection)

Perhaps Trump figures it will be thrown out in a court challenge. We'll see.

Ah, bump stocks are for dummies....You can find lots of videos on the internet of “real” gun guys shooting semi autos more accurately, as fast or in some cases, faster than bump stocks.

There is a reason the real AR has a switch to burst vs full auto - you are out of ammo or melting your barrel too quick, as well as not accurate.

Same as the caliber debate - a 9mm delivered on target is better than a .40 missed every day.

I suppose the next Democrat administration can now rule that pocket knives are machine guns too.

Don’t blame Trump for actions by leftists in the DOJ

This is an insane ruling. Who’s filing what court suit?

“the legal equivalent of a machine gun. “

Good luck enforcing this ‘law’. What about woodworking tools and inlaying black. What about a leaf-stock spring? They can be used to make a bump stock. Brrrrr.

Never saw the profit in using a bump stock... Particularly since my Tac-Triggers are far more efficient for spray jobs...

So a rubber band wrapped around your beltloop is a full auto weapon. 😆
