A Leon County circuit judge ruled Tuesday that the recount of midterm votes in Palm Beach County, Fla., will be extended to Nov. 20, five days after the initial deadline.
The order will extend recounts for a U.S. Senate race between incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson (D) and Gov. Rick Scott (R), as well as the gubernatorial race between former Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) and Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum (D).
The Florida recount, which is taking place in Palm Beach and Broward counties, has become contentious, with all sides accusing each other of dishonorable behavior.

Ugh!
Leon County is home to the state capital and the venue specifically called out by the Florida Statutes for election disputes.
We are all getting a little touchy. Step back, take a deep breath.
Title IX, Chapter 97. The Secretary of State is the Chief Elections Officer by statute and should be all over this.
SCOTUS bound !
Yup. Roe v. Wade is Stare Decisis.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So is Bush v Gore.
LOL!
Who gives a sh!t what a court says, just certify the vote. What the hell is the sos doing?
Etc.
Dxxxx it.
Thanks! Had my mind on the abortion thread I just read.
Of course, just keep extending the deadline, state laws mean nothing. This needs to be fought and go to the USSC if it has to. This should have been the case in Arizona, why in the Hell do the Republicans always fold so easily?????????
Been there, done that.
Does the US Supreme Court have to intervene in Florida voting AGAIN, and say “STOP!”
While the vote gap may creep closer and closer, only when given an infinite amount of time, will it be closed enough so the Democrat may be declared the “winner”.
Gore was never ahead in 2000, even though George W. Bush never asserted his position as front-runner all through those multiple recounts. Bush was perfectly willing to allow Gore to win, regardless of the consequences, if it came to that.
Neither Rick Scott nor Ron DeSantis should have that fatalistic view of the outcome. Rolling over and playing dead is no longer an option.
The other side plays for keeps.
The judge was asked to consider an extension for one STATE HOUSE election recount and she decided she would go all out and extend all of the recount deadlines. This is absurd! There is no basis...Sec of state must appeal! The people have a right to know the outcome of this election.
Looking in the mirror, telling herself how wonderful she is..
Does anyone see a reference to the judiciary deciding
the timeframe for an election at the state level?
Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member.
Each House shall keep a Journal of its Proceedings, and from time to time publish the same, excepting such Parts as may in their Judgment require Secrecy; and the Yeas and Nays of the Members of either House on any question shall, at the Desire of one fifth of those Present, be entered on the Journal.
Neither House, during the Session of Congress, shall, without the Consent of the other, adjourn for more than three days, nor to any other Place than that in which the two Houses shall be sitting.
What year?
.
Time for SCOTUS. These county officials and district court judges are bringing down the whole voting process, and nobody is ever going to trust it again.
Keep counting until your guy wins, then stop the counting.
In other news, a large convoy of trucks and vans has been spotted headed for Florida with pallets and boxes of newly discovered ballots.
Oddly enough, they were found in an abandoned WaPo publications distribution center and smelled of fresh ink, some bystanders that were able to approach the vehicles stated.
