Democrats load "subpoena cannon" with 85+ Trump targets
Axios ^ | 12 Nov 2018 | Mike Allen

Posted on 11/12/2018 6:25:07 AM PST by mandaladon

House Democrats plan to probe every aspect of President Trump’s life and work, from family business dealings to the Space Force to his tax returns to possible "leverage" by Russia, top Democrats tell us.

What they're saying: One senior Democratic source said the new majority, which takes power in January, is preparing a "subpoena cannon," like an arena T-shirt cannon.

Show less Based on our reporting and other public sources, Axios' Zach Basu has assembled a list of at least 85 potential Trump-related investigation and subpoena targets for the new majority. (See the list.) Incoming House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) told “Axios on HBO” that he expects Trump to resist the committees' requests, demands and subpoenas — likely pushing fights over documents and testimony as far as the Supreme Court.

Why it matters: The fight will test the power of the presidency, Congress and the Supreme Court. Top Democrats, who had largely avoided the subject during the campaign, now tell us they plan to almost immediately begin exploring possible grounds for impeachment. A public report by Robert Mueller would ignite the kindling.

Tom Steyer, the liberal activist who spent more than $100 million during the campaign to build support for impeachment, said establishment leaders who are trying to postpone talk of impeachment are "the outliers": "80 percent of registered Democrats think ... we're right." Two of the most powerful incoming chairs tell "Axios on HBO" that they are plotting action far beyond Russian interference in the 2016 elections.

1) Schiff, the top Democrat on the intelligence committee, told us he wants to help special counsel Robert Mueller, and plans to release — with some redactions of classified material — transcripts of dozens of interviews the committee conducted during its own Russia probe.

Schiff says these transcripts contain numerous possible contradictions with other testimony and facts that have come to light, meaning possible legal jeopardy for the witnesses, who have included White House officials and alumni. "I want to make sure that Bob Mueller has the advantage of the evidence that we've been able to gather," Schiff said. "But equally important: that Bob Mueller is in a position to determine whether people knowingly committed perjury before our committee."~~~~~~~~~~The Rats are determined to take down the President...

THE IMPEACHMENT OF BILL CLINTON

Attorney David Schippers became a public figure when a friend of his, Congressman Henry Hyde, asked him to be the Chief Investigative Counsel for the US House Judiciary Committee. Schippers was a lifelong Democrat but accepted and took the job in April 1998.

The Hyde Committee was holding an inquiry on whether President Bill Clinton had committed impeachable offences in his handling of the Paula Jones sexual harassment suit..... during which he committed perjury regarding his affair with then-White House Intern Monica Lewinsky. After an investigation, the committee in December 1998 voted to impeach Clinton, a decision supported by Schippers.

On December 10, 1998, Schippers said to the committee: "The President, then, has lied under oath in a civil deposition, lied under oath in a criminal grand jury. He lied to the people, he lied to his Cabinet, he lied to his top aides, and now he's lied under oath to the Congress of the United States. There's no one left to lie to."

=======================================

Upon the passage of H. Res. 611, Clinton was impeached on December 19, 1998, by the House of Representatives
on grounds of perjury to a grand jury (by a 228–206 vote) and obstruction of justice (by a 221–212 vote).

The Senate voted not to remove the impeached president.

Do you think President Trump has woken up to the fact that this is a Fight to the Death, and there will be NO Prisoners Taken??

I wish he would act like he knows

What an incredible waste of time and resources! Why don’t the parties in Congress compromise and work together to pass bipartisan legislation for the common good.

I can’t believe as much good as Pres. Trump has done for this Republic that Democrats and Independents would put them back in power. It should be obvious to anyone with an IQ over 37 the Democrats are only interested in regaining the reins of power to continue their goal of making our Republic a member of the Global Government that the EU wants with them in charge of that government of course.

And the last two years squandered by the last AG because he thought it would be bad form to prosecute political enemies....even though they were Batman episode quality criminals.

Obama, Holder, Lerner and others laughed at the House GOP...and NOTHING happened to them. The Dems are powerless to compel anything.

They talk a big talk, but Democrats' House takeover is like Don Quixote fighting windmills.......they now have subpoena power to go after Trump; they can bring an impeachment action against the President w/ 258 votes.....but the trial must take place in the Republican-controlled Senate.

Democrats will hold between 46-48 seats in the US Senate-a NET LOSS-ergo, there is NO CHANCE they'll take back the Senate before 2024.

Dems will obsessively obstruct Trump for two years, seeing it as their of winning the White House in 2020. But they risk appearing too obstructive; it could easily blowback on them if they end up with less than 47 seats in the Senate.

TRUMP SUPPORTERS WILL NOT TAKE THIS SITTING OWN

Trump rally in Cape Giradeau.

Typical Trump overflow rally in NC.

Why appear frantic before your enemy? They can then exploit that. Trump may, in the back of his mind, be weighing privately calling them the enemy over opponents.

Looks like the hand gets overplayed yet again.

Don't count on it. The media will do everything in their (substantial) power to defend and justify everything the demons do.

I am convinced that armed, violent rebellion (CW 2) is on its way. It's only a matter of time.

“Why don’t the parties in Congress compromise and work together to pass bipartisan legislation for the common good.”

I do assume this us a rhetorical question, but I’ll have a go at it anyway. I believe it is because Democrats are petulant, butt-hurt children who are throwing a temper tantrum.
