Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) announced Thursday that he will try to force a vote on legislation protecting special counsel Robert Mueller after President Trump ousted Attorney General Jeff Sessions Wednesday.

Flake said he and Sen. Christopher Coons (D-Del.) will go to the Senate floor next week to try to get a deal on advancing the legislation.

"When the Senate convenes next week, @ChrisCoons and I will ask for unanimous consent to bring S.2644, the Special Counsel Independence and Integrity Act, to a vote on the Senate floor. After the firing of The AG, it is more important than ever to protect the Special Counsel," Flake said in a tweet.

Flake speaks for the party of bush, the GOP—95% of the senate and house.

Was this a question or a statement you believe to be true? Flake speaks for the dems because he is one.

Fake R's are leaving politics because the people see right through them. That includes the GOPe.

It’s a statement of fact. The gop is made of special interest dead enders who genuflect to our corrupt stasi state-Rinos and neverTrumpers.

We have no representation in D.C. save Trump.

Mr. Flake (thank you for Kavanaugh) is now the lamest of lame ducks. His efforts should be ignored.

Article 2 trumps any Flake-y legislative Hail Mary.

Not gonna pass in a Coons age. (Pun explicitly intended)

Sounds like time to stretch the obstruction of justice to Flake and Carper. Both their public statements about an ongoing investigation and any proposed legislation . . . maybe CNN and MSNBC will spend more hours talking about how ingenious this legal approach is as a way to bring people to justice ... using public statements and now proposed legislation about a specific case constitute obstruction.

Question: For this thing that Flake is trying to do to become law doesn’t it have to be signed by the president?

You should familiarize yourself with the conservative caucus. All of them represent us.

Yes, it’s true pols are a slippery and sometimes slimy bunch, but there are some good ones who didn’t get into it for the power, prestige, and money. Trump is one of them; yes.
