Other reports state suspect is a Middle Eastern male in his twenties with a long beard who shot a security guard then threw smoke grenades then kept firing. Used a "big handgun" according to a witness on ABC7 in Los Angeles.
Ptsd does not make people go on a murderous rampage. PTSD is an anxiety disorder in response to trauma.
His mental - medical condition has more to it than ptsd, perhaps he was bi- polar or something in addition perhaps.
Not necessarily fake news. I just happened to hear the ‘witness’ describe the shooter before I came over to FR. This is a distraught witness who may or may not have seen things clearly. The media is just repeating what this guy said, not making things up from whole cloth.

Just horrible. Ive visited Thousand Oaks a few times, beautiful community..Its one of the few areas left in Southern California that is vastly Republican. I remember in 2008 when I was visiting my cousin in Simi Valley, driving back, saw a HUGE sign near the 118 Freeway for McCain/Palin..prayers for the victims..not sure why there was NOT a metal detector at the bar or some security at least to pat people down before entering
...... I created that post before I knew the perp was a Marine Combat Vet with PTSD ..... While it is still possible that he may have been a member of ANTIFA ..... I'm no expert but heck .... The PTSD can manifest itself in many ways ..... One of these is lashing out in anger and violence.

The victim families should be suing the “medical experts” that released him in April for a similar event.
I think the most interesting aspect of the mystery with him so far is why he chose this spot - with students from Christian universities having a party night to country music. We saw MAGA hats and Reagan shirts in the photos of people who survived. Did he specifically target young conservatives? It is reminiscent of the Vegas shooting in that the choice was a more conservative crowd.

That is always my first question when these mass shootings occur. Usually there is something there . . .
I am thinking it was medication he may have been given for the PTSD, it seems that EVERYONE of these type of shooters have ONE thing in common they have ALL been on a drug such as Ritalin these drugs are VERY SCAREY!!! I have come to believe the side affects are DEADLY!!!!
Good point about the meds. From what I understand there seems to be a higher chance of these violent reactions with teens and/or young adults. But, there is a definite trend happening.
I’m interested in learning about his tox screen results and/or any meds he’s been taking. Thanks for the reminder on this subject.
I too am guilty of responding before the full story is known... There were all kinds of descriptions coming out about the shooter at first, and it does seem like something a leftist wacko would do...so... I think I better hold my ammo until the final story is told....
I heard a man who wrote about this topic who read off a huge list of shooting incidents with a history of SSRI or Ritalin use by the shooters, not reported or barely mentioned in the media.
IF we ever get those results. . . prescribers give them out like candy, and there is not much follow up on the individual’s reactions or symptoms until something tragic occurs. No one wants to go after big pharma. Just talking about the “mental health” issue isn’t enough, sadly.
