Trump Triumphant After Republicans Retain the Senate: 'Tremendous Success'
businessinsider.com ^ | Nov 7, 2018

President Donald Trump issued a triumphant tweet about Tuesday's midterm elections

"Tremendous success tonight," Trump said. "Thank you to all!"

Republicans made significant gains in the Senate, picking up key seats from incumbent Democrats in states where Trump won in 2016 and also turning back possible challenges in high-profile states like Texas. Holding the Senate gives Trump the opportunity to continue the historic pace of judicial nominations that have dominated the chamber's calendar in recent months.

The GOP also got major wins in toss-up governors races in states like Florida and Ohio

FROM ANOTHER THREAD and FREEPER willk:

First midterm election for new President:

Clinton 1994

House -54
Senate -8

Obama 2010

House -63
Senate -6

Trump 2018

House -30 (roughly)
Senate +4 or +5”

Obama and Clinton didn’t have to deal with 40 anti-Trumpers retiring. Otherwise Trump would have probably maintained the house too.

Might see 56 seats in the Senate. We’ll see.

Think of the judicial appointments. :-)

Trump/”Q” lost 1/2 his power tonight because he didn't have the moral potence to arrest TRAITORS the last 2 years. Next 2 years Trump is little more than Pelosi’s bitch.

Nonsense!
Even the Republican controlled House couldn’t get their bills past the 51 seat Republican controlled Senate (because of the 60 vote rule), so how do you suppose a Democrat controlled House can get their crazy bills past a 56 seat GOP Senate?Pelosi can pass all the abortion on demand crazy bills she wants, they are not getting past The US Senate.

Uh huh. Now President Trump can ramrod through enough judges to remake the courts for a generation. And there are still 61000 sealed indictments, and some very interesting executive orders extant.

Take your meds, or whatever you're on. DJT being Pelosi’s bitch?

GTFO out of this thread and off this site.

POTUS kept loses at a minimum with everything working against him and the R's.

Democrats are going to be pushing Pelosi real hard to make a lot of noise from the House. One real downside of a Democrat majority House, by the way, is that immigration reform won’t happen without a Republican majority in the House. Draining the swamp will be more difficult, too.

You’ve said some trollishly annoying things in the past, but yes, on this you are quite correct.

It didn't happen when they were in the majority anyway.

Of course you are right but look at the long term. A lot of RINOS were purged this election cycle through retirements or loss. Those elected, especially in the Senate are full on Trumpers.

In my opinion, while I certainly do hate to lose the House, this could be a short two year cycle. Democrats will over reach. Paul Ryan is gone and Trump will be reelected in 2020 and has demonstrated coattails. Jeff Sessions is gone. Trump won’t make the same mistake with the next AG so we’re likely to see progress there. The Supreme Court. Although somewhat painful, this is a cleansing and a strengthened Senate.

They are calling House electxions too soon here, assuming the liberals get Republican sections of California that they never get, per H.A. Goodman.

"It didn't happen when they were in the majority anyway."

That was because of the few trashy ones. Some of them are leaving now. If we can get a House majority in 2020 with President Trump still in office, then you'll see immigration reform and see the trash taken out of the various departments.

“There’s only been 5 times in the last 105 years that an incumbent President has won seats in the Senate in the off year election. Mr. Trump has magic about him. This guy has magic coming out of his ears. He is an astonishing vote getter & campaigner. The Republicans are........
unbelievably lucky to have him and I’m just awed at how well they’ve done. It’s all the Trump magic - Trump is the magic man. Incredible, he’s got the entire media against him, attacking him every day, and he pulls out these enormous wins.” Ben Stein, “The Capitalist Code”
