Trump Triumphant After Republicans Retain the Senate: 'Tremendous Success'

President Donald Trump issued a triumphant tweet about Tuesday's midterm elections

"Tremendous success tonight," Trump said. "Thank you to all!"

Republicans made significant gains in the Senate, picking up key seats from incumbent Democrats in states where Trump won in 2016 and also turning back possible challenges in high-profile states like Texas. Holding the Senate gives Trump the opportunity to continue the historic pace of judicial nominations that have dominated the chamber's calendar in recent months.

The GOP also got major wins in toss-up governors races in states like Florida and Ohio

It can be 55/45 or even 56/44 in the Senate.

The democrats will be able to make more noise, but they won’t be able to make law. Trump will still be Potus, R’s gained in the Senate putting an end to the likes of Susan Collins as Kingmaker, and there will likely be another Scotus opening in his first term and the Dems will be powerless to stop it.

Smoke and noise lasts a few news cycles or even a few months, but Trump’s nominees to the judiciary are going to have impact for decades.

Trump/"Q" lost 1/2 his power tonight because he didn't have the moral potence to arrest TRAITORS the last 2 years. Next 2 years Trump is little more than Pelosi's bitch.

Prepare to defend yourselves patriots. Peace is dead.

Republicans seriously need to get a handle on local politics though.

Tester is down at the moment. It looks more like 56 R Senators.

Trump does have coattails.

The Senate confirms cabinet picks, tresties, AND JUDGES (including Supremes. Think they'll forget The Kavanaugh lesson?)

And what about the 61k sealed indictments? What if a couple dozen rats in the House get sent to Gitmo? (the RINOs having been allowed to resign quietly, thinking they were throwing the election, which they'd blame on Trump, and then elect Jeb)?

If I had to compromise tonight this is the split we needed.

The House can pass all they want, it will never move in the Senate.

The judicial pace can now pick up steam and all of the Senate approval roles going unfilled in various agencies can get filled.

56 Senators is a lot to work with when it comes to putting the stamp on things.

This is a generational election for changing the judiciary. The house can get flipped in 2020.

They will immediately launch numerous investigations. By midsummer they will launch an impeachment that will be 24/7 on the news until the election cycle begins. Foreign policy will grind to a stop. And they will crash the economy. They can do a hell of a lot more than just make noise.

As my friends in Latin America would say, All politics is loco.

Could not agree more. My choice was to vote for a moderate Democrat (Cheri Bustos, who now will be in a leadership position) or a Republican who the IL Republican party (if there is such a thign) wouldn’t even acknowledge because he spouts off with 9-11 Truther garbage and other conspiracy junk. YET he got 38% of the vote! That is purely protest votes, and if they’d nurture a young conservative who has a bit of Trumpishness, even blue state House seats could be won. My district is the only blue one in IL outside the Chicago area and that’s a shame, but we’ve got to have bettere quality candidates that are worth voting for, not just the ones who benefit from those of us who voted the straight R ticket to send a message.

Tremendous duccess my ass. Trump/"Q" lost 1/2 their power tonight...gambling on some plan that didn't include arrest of a single traitor in 2 years. Now Trump is Pelosi's bitch the next 2 years. No one to blame but himself...Soros still steals God's air...Clintons walk free...Podestas still raping baies, and the lack of a wall helping illegals vote en masse.

Q is bullshit!

How? They won’t get enough votes to impeach anyone and the Senate will squash all the crap bills they put forward. It’ll be unpleasant but it will not be new law or policy like we had under Obama.

Unfortunately, yes, they are dangerous now. Yet their obstruction can backfire in 2020.

Rosendale is ahead of Tester in Montana for the Senate at this time.

The house has been doing investigations for the past two years. Nothing will change.

Democrats promised voters to fix healthcare. If they focus on impeachment they will get massacred in two years. Impeachment is dead on arrival in the senate.

FROM ANOTHER THREAD and FREEPER willk:

First midterm election for new President:

Clinton 1994

House -54
Senate -8

Obama 2010

House -63
Senate -6

Trump 2018

House -30 (roughly)
Senate +4 or +5”

Obama and Clinton didn’t have to deal with 40 anti-Trumpers retiring. Otherwise Trump would have probably maintained the house too.
