Democrat Tim Ryan Envisions $30-, $40-, $50-an-Hour Jobs for Working Class Americans

"Working-class issues are the issues of the Democratic Party," Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) told Fox News's Maria Bartiromo on "Sunday Morning Futures."
.
.
We got to get off this, you know, just talking about $15 an hour. We got to talk about how we get $30-, $40-, $50-an-hour jobs that people who work hard and play by the rules can be comfortable. I think people are tired of the anxiety, tired of not being comfortable, and the Democratic Party is pushing an agenda that will help those people.

Whoa! Are you trying to tell me that there is a correlation between wages and how much things cost? I thought that economic principles were like Unicorn Farts, lot's of people talk about them, but almost no one really believes in them.......Unicorn Farts that is, unless they're democrats.

Well, if this idiot really wants American workers to have higher wages, he should get on board eliminating new illegal aliens, deporting ones already here and severely REDUCING numbers of new LEGAL immigrants.

Otherwise, he full of the standard ‘RAT crap.

It doesn’t matter what the absolute number is. Having the government set a number just starts rest of the pieces on the chess board moving until a new equilibrium is reached - and the workers who supposedly would benefit from the government defined number are then back at square one, or worse.

It’s really about how the overall economy is doing, and whether or not those working specific jobs are in a ‘sellers’ market or a ‘buyers’ market. In a booming economy, with a need for more workers, job seekers are in the drivers seat and can demand better salaries and benefits. In an economy suppressed by inappropriate government intervention the job seekers have much less bargaining power.

If automation is eroding the job base, then it is necessary to stop immigration so that wages for the jobs that remain won’t fall.

In short, liberals can have higher minimum wage or more immigrants but not both.

Recently there was a story about a bus driver for our regional *government run* transit system (the MBTA) who retired at about the age of 55 (can't recall the exact age) with a pension of $97,000 a year.

A BUS DRIVER

I worked in health care for decades and I know physicians and surgeons who retire with lower pensions than that.

“I envision an America where everyone makes an above average wage.”

Medicare wastes over $80 billion a year. Is that how efficiently it would be operated? Medicare for all would cost about $12,000 PER PERSON, per year. About $3.5 TRILLION a year for the first year.

“I envision an America where everyone makes an above average wage.”

Me thinks Rep. Tim Ryan doesn't understand what average means. The problem with democrats is in trying to make everyone have an above average wage, they end up making everyone have near zero wages - it's called communism.
