Dragging into its fourth week, all signs are on that the migrant caravan is falling apart.
According to the Associated Press:
ISLA, Mexico – A 4,000-strong caravan of Central American migrants traveling through Mexico split up into several groups with one spending the night in a town in the coastal state of Veracruz and other migrants continuing toward the country's capital.
The divisions came during a tense day in which tempers flared and some migrants argued with caravan organizers and criticized Mexican officials.
How did it happen? Obviously, someone promised them something for free and then didn't pay up. This is about what you'd expect when someone offers something for free, and then realizes that the whole thing is not going to pay off in the politically useful way he wanted.
Whether it was Venezuelan or Sorosian or Mexican, the free cash for a free ride to the border and all the free stuff of the U.S. just never materialized. That has raised questions about why the group should stay together instead of split apart. After all, anyone can apply for asylum to the states on his own. Applying in a 4,000-strong group pretty well means a long wait time.
A promised bus ride to Mexico City for thousands of migrants from Central America was the latest money that never materialized. Mexico's Veracruz governor, anxious to get the migrants out of his home state as soon as possible, promised them all free bus rides to Mexico City and then withdrew the offer, likely because Mexico City didn't want to take them. Federal authorities there warned the Veracruz governor he'd be charged with human-trafficking if his free bus rides rolled out to the Mexican capital. Obviously, Mexico City does not see itself as having much to gain politically from the big migrant caravan

Mexico City with a population of 22 million very crowded souls and streets busy beyond belief, can swallow a caravan of a few thousand and leave no trace
Yea, I’m seeing mostly young men, many who were quite aggressive at the border into Mexico.
Back in 2013, I did a 8 to 12 mile ‘walk’ four days out of each week...for six weeks, eating at the same level and dumping all sugar drinks...I lost around 14 pounds. Never starved. Looking at the caravan crowd...if they were ‘honest’...they’d have to consume at least 4,000 calories a day, and in that weather...consume at least 1.5 gallons of water per day. My enthusiasm would peak out by the 7th consecutive day under that work-out.
That’s the best idea I’ve heard so far!
regarding these migrants are two very different matters.
Catholic Nuns flagging 18 wheeler drivers to ask them to transport the migrants,
working with the organisors to get these to the border.
Hail them down Loading them up!

You know what this was: After the Kavanaugh hearing backfired, the left had to scramble for another October Surprise. So they promised a bunch of Guatemalans and Hondurans several $1000 if they would join a march on the US. But now they see that the “caravan” will not make it to the US border on time, and they reneged on the deal.
How many can they bring before the polls close tomorrow?
Promise them a bus ride to Mexico City, then turn south and drop them back off at their country’s border
So they’ve only gotten in to go thru ‘further’ processing .....which is what Trump said would happen. Likely then to tent city as is set up ...and just as he said.

I have to chuckle at that, as I did the same thing, and my wife never misses an opportunity to remind me of it; often describing me in your term.
Reports I’ve read is all those from Hondouras etc. who are flown back to their country after deportation just get in another caravan and keep on coming.
Mexico City has a huge population - but lousy infrastructure, and they cannot “swallow” several thousand people without a trace. In fact, Mexico City was actually shutting off the water to a large area today because they wanted to improve the water system, so there will certainly be no place for these people.
Mexico can’t absorb them and doesn’t want them. Mexico only let them pass through before because they promised the y weren’t staying, but now with Trump’s stance, Mexico is actually getting up the nerve to try to stop letting itself be used by the Cuban controlled human traffickers. I hope he holds firm, and Mexico will be very grateful to him.
Mexico has already offered these people “refuge” in Oaxaca, but the poor dumb critters are being driven ahead by the leftist loonies behind them.

What tent city? I don’t see any tent cities. All the army has done is throw out some wire hundreds of miles away.
