More than 1,600 scientists signed a letter denouncing President Trump administration’s plan to narrow the definition of gender to be strictly biological, according to Buzzfeed.
The letter was written in response to a memo reportedly drafted by the Department of Health and Human Services, according to the New York Times.
The memo states that any disputes about a person’s sex would be clarified using genetic testing, which scientists who signed the letter called unscientific and unethical.
“This proposal is fundamentally inconsistent not only with science, but also with ethical practices, human rights, and basic dignity,” the scientists wrote.
Among the signatories are eight Nobel laureates.
The letter emphasizes that both biological sex and gender are on a spectrum and are not clear cut.
“Our best available evidence shows that affirmation of gender identity is paramount to the survival, health, and livelihood of transgender and intersex people,” the letter states.
More than 50 companies signed onto a statement released Wednesday supporting transgender equality.
This proposal is fundamentally inconsistent not only with science, but also with ethical practices, human rights, and basic dignity.
For sheer grotesque-ness this can’t be beat. Anyone who thinks they can MAKE me say that up is down and black is wHite is in for a rude awakening.
How many scientists are there? 10's of thousands? 100's of thousands? More than one million?
There’s also a name for the 3rd gender for mankind.
A scientific community in need of taxpayer money for further development of another inexact science.

How about making all personal data documents not ask for the person’s sex. But maybe some people would want to give their sex. This needs to go to the Supreme Court.

The sexes are male or female. This is determined by one’s plumbing. Males are plumbed on the outside. Females have inside plumbing.
There are three genders: Male, female, and neutral. Gender is a literary term. It is used in speaking and writing, [to wit], he she, her, him, them, those, they.
The Left have been allowed to bastardize this term, gender, in order to do what they do so well: Create chaos and mayhem. Just as they did with the word gay. At one time, gay meant happy. Then the Left was allowed to bastardize it into meaning queer, which is anything but happy.

The scientists would say the mares could just adopt a couple of ponies.

Simple solution. If they get government funding, pull it. If they are paid by a public institution that gets government funding, pull that.
