Records show that undercover FBI agents gave Florida Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum (Fla.) a ticket to "Hamilton" in 2016, contrary to his campaign's previous explanation.
Former lobbyist Adam Corey's lawyer, Chris Kise, released the records Tuesday, only two weeks before the gubernatorial election in which Gillum narrowly leads his opponent Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.), according to RealClearPolitics.
The documents were original reported by the Tampa Bay Times and Kise forwarded them to The Hill.
Text messages between Gillum and former lobbyist Adam Corey, who set up meetings with the agents according to the Times, show Gillum knew the tickets came from "Mike Miller."
"Miller" was posing as a developer delving into city corruption, but was actually a federal agent investigating Tallahassee public corruption, the Times reports.
"Mike Miller and the crew have tickets for us for Hamilton tonight at 8 p.m.," Corey wrote to Gillum on Aug. 10, 2016.
"Awesome news about 'Hamilton,'" Gillum replied.
Kise told the Hill in a statement that the records reflect the fact that "no criminal activity took place."
But the messages contradict what Gillum's campaign said in a Sep. 4 press release, according to the Times.
His campaign explained that Gillum's brother, Marcus, gave him the ticket.
"After the trip, Mayor Gillum learned Marcus Gillum had obtained that ticket in a swap with Adam Corey for a concert ticket," the campaign said.
Gillum said in a statement forwarded to The Hill Tuesday that the records support him against allegations of corruption.
"These records vindicate and add more evidence that at every turn I was paying my own way or was with my family, for all trips, including picking up tickets from my brother, Marcus, who was with a group of his own friends," he wrote.
Pence dates were not in the article, just a little research to satisfy my own curiosity.
my daughter is an aspiring dancer and very much into musical theater...my wife bought two tickets for the show in August of 2016...after all the BS that went on after the 2016 election at the show my daughter decided she did not want to go...i put the tickets on stubhub and sold them for 3X face value...
considered leaving them empty but i thought making $$$ off their left wing a$$es and going the capitalism route was better..
Imagine that, a commie lied.
sauce for the *** **** goose.
Tip of the iceberg.
“DeSantis is running a very incompetent campaign”
Yes he is. On the day before the hurricane, Gillam was on the Weather Channel for over an hour. DeSantis campaign couldn’t think of a single way to get him in front of a camera..totally incompetent.
I think there is something very flawed in the polling process that generated this statistic. Even in the trending blue madness of Florida, I can’t imagine DeSantis not showing a strong lead at this point.
If the state of Florida, chooses the corrupt tax and spend incompetent mayor of Tallahasee, a city he ran into the ground, over MAGA DeSantis, they have lost their minds, and deserve the misery he will put them through for the next four years.
Amen, brutha! I will vote for De Santis. I am registered in FL as NPA (no party affiliation) and I am getting inundated with things from Democratic campaigns and Democratic sympathizing PAC’s. I get nothing from De Santis. Either they are mind readers and have accurately labeled me as “money in the bank”, a voter who needs no persuasion, or they are keeping their powder dry. Real dry. Maybe too dry. I would like to see an ace in the hole that would blow away Gillum’s chances, but let’s not wait too long to unload it!
That is what I am thinking too.
I am registered as a Republican in FL, and have received 2 or 3 brochures in the mail from DeSantis. But he needs to force his way on any TV channel he can, Fox news will certainly give him face time.
So many pols risk felony imprisonment for so little.
You’d think these clowns had more self esteem.
