Doctor Who is about to do battle with a new deadly enemy...racism.
Sundays episode centres around Rosa Parks who refused to give up her seat in the colored section of an Alabama bus to a white passenger.
The outcry over her 1955 arrest sparked the start of the civil rights movement.
In her latest adventure, Time Lord Jodie Whittaker lands in Americas Deep South as an evil alien tries to disrupt the historic confrontation.
She and her team have to ensure the pivotal moment is not sabotaged.
Sidekicks Ryan Sinclair and Yasmin Khan face discrimination as they are refused entry to a motel and both discuss modern racism, too.
Ryan, played by black actor Tosin Cole, says: Its not like Rosa Parks wipes out racism from the world forever.

OMG I was about to say “Bring back Jon Pertwee...from the dead.”
Aw. I grew up with the Fourth (Tom Baker). Not a big fan of subsequent regenerations though.
Turning “The Curse of Fatal Death” serious is their biggest error, obviously; it makes the Sixth seem forgivable.
Having watched since the 2005 reboot, Dr Who doesn't like guns, but prefers to blow up his opponents. He's a bomb-throwing bolshevik.
Parks was the Christine Blasey Ford of her era. A plant who already was working for the left.
Many Episodes with Pertwee not available on iTunes are available using Britbox on Amazon. $7 month after 7 day free trail.
With the end of Season 18 and the demise of the 4th Doctor, the show when into a steep decline until the 9th Doctor which began with far better writing and superior special effects - attributes lacking in the early episodes with Pertwee. Script writing after the relaunch in 2005 became more creative and generally interesting. But PC-ness began its slow creep into the fabric of the show, unobtrusively at first, then with the demise of the 11th Doctor in 2015-16, the audience got hit full force with British PC-ness.
With the arrival of the 12th Doctor the writing became a jumble and the inclusion of a ugly, openly gay, black female, the show was on water skis headed to the ramp, not to mention making the Master a woman. With the 13th Doctor, the show left the ramp and soared over the shark, landing with a thud of lowered viewership.
‘refused to give up her seat in the colored section of an Alabama bus to a white passenger’
What poor writing and grasp of the basics. Why would a white passenger attempt to sit in the back of the bus? The dispute was about the front section.
Doctor Who for all practical purposes committed suicide with the 12th Doctor - the 13th is just a zombie.
Wake me when Doctor who takes on islamic grooming gangs...

This is the UK you are talking about ... Ms Dr Who will be leading Islamic grooming gangs ...
I call her “Nurse Who” in public. Some of the reactions are hilarious.
Pretty sure Dr.Who has done shows about racism (under the guise of Aliens not liking other Aliens) plenty of times.
The Daleks were basically racist space nazis

The Daleks are the only villains that I just can’t make myself take seriously.
don’t mind that Rosa parks refusal was planned ahead of time ...but they also need to show that there were sevral people before Rosa parks that got arrested for not going to the back of the bus her’ was chosen because of her age and the fact that it showed the absurdity of racism . before Rosa parks there was young mother that was arrested and sparked having Rosa parks get arrested on purpose. the reason why they chose not to publicize the young mother was her child was out of wedlock. Rosa Parks provided better optics for the rest of the country when publicizing the protest.
hate PC shit and I am sure that the fact it was the demacrat party who instituted the blacks to the back of the bus and then enforced it will not be mentioned.
The cool kids sat in the back of my school bus.
I, sadly, was not one of them.
Jon Pertwee was a dear friend of mine from 1982 till he passed away in 1996. Im so glad his adventures, and all the classic ones, are on Britbox.
Whovian since 1978, Im not watching the time lady. People are going wild over the female star as if it makes the show so much better. It reminds me of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - they hired a black actress for Hermione and now the PC fans would have a fit if a white actress was hired in the future.
1-12 and the War Doctor episodes, novels and audio dramas will keep me going for years. It was way too PC in recent years but tolerable.
Oh, so the BBC is going to dig up our past and not their own? They dont want to revisit their treatment of the Irish, for example, and have that historical timeline kept intact by a Time Lord? Would that be too upsetting for folks in the UK?
Good one!
