I thought there was a rule you had to have like 5 days between it coming out of committee and a floor vote.
They MAKE the rules (and laws)!
They scheduled the vote earlier and left the required time period. I think the scheduling starts the clock.
Committee votes Friday.
McConnell then has to bring it to the Senate floor and get a vote to end debate. The confirmation vote ca then happen as early as the next session.
Saturday ‘end debate’ vote. Monday earliest possible confirmation vote.
The committee hearing is NOT necessary at all. It is just eyewash that got started in 1916 when Justice Brandeis was nominated.
Henceforth, go for a floor vote without all of the posturings that have burdened the committee hearing. Yes or no.
Senate Rules? After Harry Reid?
I have read that you don’t even need a committee recommendation and that the Turtle can call a floor vote whenever he choses.
3 days and it was already announced/planned on Tue is the way I’ve heard it
On FOX yesterday, someone saidd that a committee isnt required at all. McConnell could call the vote on the floor without a committee vote.
