Judge Brett Kavanaugh & Professor Christine Blasey Ford Testify
The Senate Judiciary Committee hears testimony from Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh and Professor Christine Blasey Ford about her allegations that Judge Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her while the two were teenagers.
i keep thinking of Elizabeth Smart. She was a girl, raped everyday for months. She is about 30 now. Poised, strong, mature. This woman was basically felt up, rubbed against, and mouth covered and says it devastated her, yet can remember basically nothing? At the least, she should remember more.
I dropped out of high school and worked as a Maintenance Man, but I know what “Exculpatory” means, and she does not. Oh, boy.
Lets consider an attempt to use physiological measurement of anxiety for a practical purpose, lie detection. I t is, in fact, difficult to tell when someone is lying, even though many people think they can do so. P eople watch for averted gaze, hand twitches, and so forth, but most of these signals are worthless. Could a machine do better than we do?
The polygraph, or lie-detector test, records sympathetic nervous system arousal, as measured by blood pressure, heart rate, breathing rate, and electrical conduction of the skin (Figure 12.20). (Slight sweating increases electrical conduction of the skin.) The assumption is that when people lie, they feel nervous and therefore increase their sympathetic nervous system arousal.
(A bit of trivia: William M arston, the inventor of the polygraph, was also the originator of the Wonder Woman cartoons. Wonder Woman used a lasso of truth to force people to stop lying.)
The polygraph sometimes accomplishes its goal simply because an accused person hooked up to a polygraph confesses, Oh, whats the use. Youre going to figure it out now anyway, so I may as well tell you. . . . But if people do not confess, how effectively does a polygraph detect lying?
In one study, investigators selected 50 criminal cases where two suspects took a polygraph test and one of the suspects later confessed to the crime (Kleinmuntz & Szucko, 1984). Thus, they had data from 100 suspects, of whom 50 were later shown to be guilty and 50 shown to be innocent. S ix professional polygraph administrators examined the polygraph results and judged which suspects appeared to be lying.
Figure 12.21 shows the results. The polygraph administrators identified 76% of the guilty suspects as liars but also classified 37% of the innocent suspects as liars. The few other well-designed studies that have been done produced equally unimpressive results. A although many police officers still believe in polygraph testing, most researchers regard the accuracy as too uncertain for important decisions (Fiedler, S chmid, & S tahl, 2002). P olygraph results are only rarely admissible as evidence in U .S. or E uropean courts. The U .S. C ongress passed a law in 1988 prohibiting private employers from giving polygraph tests to employees or job applicants, except under special circumstances, and a commission of the U.S. N ational A cademy of S ciences in 2002 concluded that polygraphs should not be used for national security clearances. But the Psych professor acts like polygraphs are somehow a mystery to her??? Who is buying this BS?!?!
Unless our hired gun can maneuver for a kill shot, we need Kavenaugh to blow everyone out of the water.
-- her 'fear' of flying - proven a lie
-- fact that she went to the media INSTEAD of Congress, did not know who to contact in government, went to Post instead (so much for the brainy Ph.D. claim)
-- she can't say who paid for Polygraph
-- she got tripped up on things like, "were the boys drunk before the party started?" "Yes" "How do you know?" "They were drunk when I got there." "Did you arrive before they did?" "NO." --LOL
Only thing she rehearsed was her response, "It was him - 100%" when asked "How confident are you it was Kavanaugh at at party?" by Rat Senator. Agree, they should ask if she was on pills when taking the polygraph. I am hoping for some good questions about her false memories, her mental health issues, and about how her recollections conflict with ALL the people who say it wasn't BK at that party, including OTHER WOMEN who support him and his historic conduct.
Can't wait til BK steps up to the plate!!!!!! Looking for some big reveal, some testimony to shake the entire room and show that she is having politicized "remembrances"...
I wouldnt be surprised if they have evidence someone coached her or she coached someone on taking a poly several questions aboiut tha..lawyers are not supposed to ask questions like that they don’t know the answer to.
I think you’re right.
Mitchell shouldve asked names of these beach people
Ask her why only girl at the party denied being there
Ask Ford to describe the home she grew up in, also stairs with only bathroom upstairs?
Prosecutor has gained her confidence and is getting her to tell on herself. He attorney is getting nervous. The prosecutor is getting what she wants.
A sheltered leftist academic who came from a very privileged life, yet still acting like a flaky teenager.
Turn them all off. These are the establishment Fox people. Turn off Fox and watch it on CSPAN. Then turn on Lou Dobbs, Hannity and Ingraham for commentary. I never watch Wallace, Shep or Brett Baer ever. Today is no different.
The voice is to give the audience a timid 15 year old girl. In truth she is a 50+ year old liberal activist who wears pussy hats in public and swears like a drunken sailor.
But GOP decided to treat her like Mother Theresa.
I have been a contractor remodeler and seen stuff up close and personal it makes loving couples go bonkers
I saw it, he (person performing polygraph test) admitted the lawyers paid for the polygraph test.
The prosecutor needs to ask her when she first spoke to her girlfriend after the incident. Her girlfriend would have asked her the next day why she left the party early. Yet, Ford says she told no one. Also, the girlfriend denies it ever happened. Case closed!
The only good thing about this freak show is Trump’s promise to deliver a new name within the hour and Cocaine Mitch’s willingness to ram an appointment through the Senate.
I’m glad someone is actually fighting.
This won’t be just a couple of cycles. The poundmetoo movement will be an effective strategy for a long time. The fodder will just build.
The demographics and the subverted education system negates anything Cupp has to say. Also, Hill was destroyed in her testimony. The only reason her name came up is because of Ford and people forgetting the cross-examination from 27 years ago. Republicans are letting this fester again.
If the issue is judged by EVIDENCE, she’s a horrible witness. If judged by EMOTION, she’ll win.
Is America ruled by reason or emotion? I think it is obvious our nation is now ruled by emotion. “How do you FEEL about this witness?” is what the pundits are asking because it is what counts with about 60% of the country.
You are right; she is pointing out many lies.
When Ford lied about wanting committee members to come to her in California, but they wouldn’t do it, I expected Mitchell to point out that humongous lie when it came out of her mouth. Mitchell didn’t. It took Grassley to point out the lie.
