We’re hearing people in hear bemoaning how the enemedia yappers are lapping this up,

Your perspective is a valid one.
However, it occurs to me that in the ongoing war against evil we seem to spend a lot of time anticipating that moment when the tide will turn in our favor.
The "just wait and see, it'll be ok" optimism is beginning to wear a little thin, IMO.
