As the Senate Judiciary Committee staff negotiates with attorneys for Christine Blasey Ford, the woman who has accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of a past sexual assault, over a potential hearing on Thursday, Republican staffers are working to interview those who may have information about the alleged incident.
CNN has learned that the committee has reached out to a longtime friend of Ford named Leland Ingham Keyser.
On Saturday night, her lawyer, Howard Walsh, released a statement to CNN and the Senate Judiciary Committee..
“Simply put,” Walsh said, “Ms. Keyser does not know Mr. Kavanaugh and she has no recollection of ever being at a party or gathering where he was present, with, or without, Dr. Ford.”
The lawyer acknowledged to CNN that Keyser is a lifelong friend of Ford’s.
Keyser is the latest person alleged to be at the party to say she has no recollection of it.
“I understand that you have been identified as an individual who was in attendance at a party that occurred circa 1982 described in a recent Washington Post article,” a committee staffer wrote Keyser earlier this week.
Kavanaugh has vehemently denied the allegations, telling sources he was “flabbergasted” when he learned of them.
“This is a completely and totally false allegation,” he said after Ford came forward. “I have never done anything like what the accuser describes — to her or to anyone.”
In addition, two others have issued statements.
“I have no memory of this alleged incident,” said Mark Judge in a September 18 letter sent to the Senate Judiciary Committee. He said he did not recall the party and never saw Brett Kavanaugh act in the matter Ford describes.

They knew this was coming and said Keyser didn’t remember that night because nothing traumatic happened to her.. They totally ignore the thrust of her statement, that she said “ no recollection of ever being at a party or gathering where he was present, with, or without, Dr. Ford.” Meaning he wasn’t at any of the parties.

they can try to twist it all they want but the statement by an attorney sent to the senate judiciary committee is clear.

Not really. She will not testify and has no intention of testifying as her story will fall apart under close questioning. Grassley can then inform all of the numerous attempts he has made to accomodate her testimony of which she refused to do. He then says, she is not her by her own volition and we now call the vote.
Grassley is no fool.
Just sent Grassley a tweet blasting him for not standing up to these people, not demanding she appears Monday or they vote & allowing them to push his vote too late for him to sit on the court when they convene Oct 1.. Others should do the same, let this gutless bastard have it

Grassley is a moron. She will continue to stall, keep bitching about them not meeting her demands, try & push this well into October... Grassley has put himself in a deep hole, he’s played this out so long, he’s stuck until they hear from her... he simply won’t have to balls to say enough is enough. He’s afraid the media will blast him for denying her to tell her story & that not allowing her to testify will hurt republicans in the November election.. I’m really starting to believe Kavanaugh is done, unless GOP retains enough seats after the election

What I was trying to say is that as outlandish as your proposal may sound it is very easy could be true.
The ‘ref’ I was citing was a shooting in Maryland Friday at a Distribution center and the shooter was a MALE who says HE is a she.
My ‘point’ was that ‘they’ thought they may have an excellent chance to have a legal shooter involved BUT HE had been considered nutz a few years ago...
Here is the full letter Ford wrote to Rep. Anna Eshoo in early July upon finding out Kavanaugh had been nominated for the Supreme Court:
Dear Senator Feinstein;
I am writing with information relevant in evaluating the current nominee to the Supreme Court. As a constituent, I expect that you will maintain this as confidential until we have further opportunity to speak. Brett Kavanaugh physically and sexually assaulted me during high school in the early 1980’s. He conducted these acts with the assistance of REDACTED.
Both were one to two years older than me and students at a local private school.
The assault occurred in a suburban Maryland area home at a gathering that included me and four others. Kavanaugh physically pushed me into a bedroom as I was headed for a bathroom up a short stair well from the living room. They locked the door and played loud music precluding any successful attempt to yell for help. Kavanaugh was on top of me while laughing with REDACTED, who periodically jumped onto Kavanaugh. They both laughed as Kavanaugh tried to disrobe me in their highly inebriated state. With Kavanaugh’s hand over my mouth I feared he may inadvertently kill me.
From across the room a very drunken REDACTED said mixed words to Kavanaugh ranging from “go for it” to “stop.” At one point when REDACTED jumped onto the bed the weight on me was substantial. The pile toppled, and the two scrapped with each other. After a few attempts to get away, I was able to take this opportune moment to get up and run across to a hallway bathroom. I locked the bathroom door behind me. Both loudly stumbled down the stair well at which point other persons at the house were talking with them. I exited the bathroom, ran outside of the house and went home.
I have not knowingly seen Kavanaugh since the assault. I did see REDACTED once at the REDACTED where he was extremely uncomfortable seeing me.
I have received medical treatment regarding the assault. On July 6 I notified my local government representative to ask them how to proceed with sharing this information . It is upsetting to discuss sexual assault and its repercussions, yet I felt guilty and compelled as a citizen about the idea of not saying anything.
