Feinstein to GOP: Show some heart to Kavanaugh accuser
The Hill ^ | 09/21/18 | Alexander Bolton

Posted on 09/21/2018 1:26:51 PM PDT by yesthatjallen

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (Calif.), the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, is calling on colleagues to “show some heart” and wait until at least next Thursday to bring before the panel the woman accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault.

Feinstein criticized Republican colleagues on Friday for announcing a proposal to bring Christine Blasey Ford before the Judiciary Committee next Wednesday, even though Ford’s lawyers have already said their client cannot appear before Thursday.

“Dr. Ford is receiving death threats. She’s had her identity stolen and her email account hacked. She fled her home wither family. But Republicans want to rush her into a hearing. It’s mean-spirited and candidly shows no sympathy or empathy whatsoever,” Feinstein said in a statement.

She argued that Republicans have no good reason not to wait another day to accommodate Ford’s request.

“It’s just an extra day, why not wait 24 hours?” she said. “Show some heart. Wait until Dr. Ford feels that she can come before the committee.”

Feinstein noted that Republicans delayed former President Obama’s nominee to the Supreme Court, Merrick Garland, for nearly a year in 2016, denying him a hearing and a vote and keeping the seat open until after President Trump took office.

Senate Republicans have proposed that Ford come before the committee on Wednesday and testify first, allowing Kavanaugh, whom she has accused of an attempted sexual assault 36 years ago, to respond later.

They have agreed to a request from her legal team that television coverage be limited to one camera, according to a source familiar with the negotiations.

Ford has also requested that Kavanaugh not be in the room when she testifies and that senators––not special outside counsel––interview the witnesses.

Republicans are discussing whether or not to bring in an independent counsel, possibly a woman, to question Ford.

There are no female GOP senators on the Judiciary Committee, and the optics of 11 male Republican senators potentially questioning Ford has drawn comparisons to the 1991 Anita Hill hearings, when all members of the Judiciary Committee were male.

A senior Senate Democratic aide on Friday slammed the GOP proposal as “disingenuous” because Ford’s lawyers has informed them that she would not be ready to testify before Thursday.

Feinstein and Ford are trying to destroy Kavenaugh’s life and reputation and she wants us to have some heart for her?

Can’t say what I’m thinking.

This is ridiculous they offered to go to her in private. Yet this bitch gets away with accusing the GOP of being cruel. I bet if it wasn’t for that treasonous POS Flake the vote would have happened yesterday as scheduled.

As much as it pains me to vote for a communist, I’m going to vote for Kevin DeLeon. I want that ugly B##### out of Washington. We can deal with DeLeon in 6 years.

The best part of this is that the Dems will use her for all she’s worth (which isn’t much) and then toss her aside just as actual rapists use their victims. Her life from here on out will be one big negative asterisk. Buh-bye, honey. Thanks for playing.

I think that Feinstein and the Democrats are a bit off balance due to Grassley’s willingness to be reasonable and accommodating for Ford’s testimony, and their complaining seems very out of sync with the situation. They are the ones holding up the process, deliberately, and it is they that keeps “moving the goal posts” and making new demands.

I recommend that we give them all the time they need, into the new year if necessary. In the meantime we will take care of this minor business of appointing Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, and the Democrats can have all the time they need to formulate their phony attempt at fraud and character assassination. I hope that will be ok.

There is no need to “show some heart” to a lying ‘rat operative.

Ford is a kook - Joe DiGenova was on Howie Carr a few minutes ago and amplified his comments from last night about the PGA - said Ford taught several students in California who are now members of the PGA tour - said Ford "follows them around" and "drinks heavily" - DiGenova did not say specifically but I inferred from his non statement that she made herself available to golfers for, let's say, sexual favors - DiGenova did say that she attempted to attend parties with the players and that they considered her "a strange person" -
A later caller to the show, who said he had played golf "almost all over", came right out and said that from his knowledge Ford was a "golf groupie" - he added interestingly that the golf club of which Ford's father is or was president is the Burning Tree Club in Montgomery County - the nicest place one could hope to play according to the caller - it does not even now allow women to belong or even to visit the place "except on the Sunday afternoon before Christmas, when they can come to the Pro Shop to buy presents for their husbands" - LOL.....

Has DiFi, Ford or her lawyer responded to the photos that were released yesterday that all but exonerates Kavanaugh as not the person she even met as it was a similar looking guy whose house was close to the country club? This was a smoking gun, but yet I hear Ford has new demands like she doesn’t want Kavanaugh there and doesn’t want questions from Kavanaugh’s attorney?

Senator, it was YOU who held onto the letter during the Senate hearings, YOU who silenced her, YOU who denied her voice from being heard at the hearings.

Honestly, why doesn’t Grassley compel her to testify on Monday, and send the Federal Marshall to pick her up? (Or Sergeant at Arms, or whatever agency is appropriate?) And make her testimony public. Anita Hill had to give public testimony. Why should a white woman be given perferential treatment when a black woman wasn’t? Isn’t that racist?

Show some heart to Kavanaugh accuser
In the time since the putative crime Ms. Ford alleges,
  • 9/11/01 happened.

  • The US fought two wars in Iraq and one in Afghanistan.

  • the prestige of the US government was compromised by the brutalizing and murder of a US ambassador. Three other Americans were killed.

  • a group of Americans in Benghazi spent a night in terror and fighting for their lives without support from their U.S. government employer.

  • A third of the people who were alive in America then have died by now.

In that perspective, is Ms. Ford’s angst actually the only thing that matters now?

“What difference, at this point, does it make?"

Feinstein needs to be under investigation for espionage and treason. Her ChiComm driver stole everything but Feinstein’s dentures and girdle.
