President Trump in an Oval Office interview with Hill.TV launched one of his most ferocious broadsides to date against Jeff Sessions, suggesting the attorney general was essentially AWOL and performing badly on a variety of issues,
I dont have an Attorney General. Its very sad, Trump told Hill.TV in an extensive and free-wheeling interview Tuesday from the Oval Office.
The president has long excoriated Sessions for his March2017 decision to recuse himself from the Russia collusion investigation. But on Tuesday he suggested he is frustrated by Sessions' performance on far more than that.
Im not happy at the border, Im not happy with numerous things, not just this, he said.
He gets in and probably because of the experience that he had going through the nominating when somebody asked him the first question about Hillary Clinton or something he said I recuse myself, I recuse myself," Trump said.
And now it turned out he didnt have to recuse himself. Actually, the FBI reported shortly thereafter any reason for him to recuse himself. And its very sad what happened.
The FBI in an early 2017 email to a Sessions aide, made public last December, concluded that Sessions did not need to reveal contacts with foreign government officials that were made in the course of his work as a senator.

Even I, in my wildest dreams, would never have chosen a 30+ year Senator. They’ve lost sight of what work is.
What were you thinking, Mr President?
Jeff Sessions was President Trump’s worst mistake. Sadly, it also resulted in AL now having a #MeToo senator, which is the fault of Alabama’s gullible White voters who let the Democrat media hoodwink them with lies about Moore. They may catch on, now that they see the national replay with Judge Kavanaugh being attacked in the same way.
He had good reason. Sessions was great during the campaign. He just was.
Please Mr. Trump...
Don’t whine like obama did...
-always blaming the “White House” for doing this or that...
Sessions was YOUR choice; YOUR decision.
REPLACE him, don’t whine to us about it.
We are ticked off enough that all the corrupt rats like Hillary havent been locked up - like you campaigned on..
Him and Mattis both, I hope. If we don’t hold in the midterms we’ll be stuck with both of them.
Sessions is Attorney General in Name Only.
AGINO.
Trump’s mistake was not appointing Sessions. It was in not asking for his resignation immediately after Sessions’ resignation
C'mon Jeff, grow some balls!
“Sessions was great during the campaign.”
They always are...well, almost always.
... what "job" has he actually done?
He has to wait at least until BK is confirmed.
“”Well see how it goes with Jeff. Im very disappointed in Jeff. Very disappointed.”
“Im so sad over Jeff Sessions because he came to me. He was the first Senator that endorsed me. And he wanted to be Attorney General, and I didnt see it, he said.
And then he went through the nominating process and he did very poorly. I mean, he was mixed up and confused, and people that worked with him for, you know, a long time in the Senate were not nice to him, but he was giving very confusing answers. Answers that should have been easily answered. And that was a rough time for him.
Sessions is not very bright, easily confused, easily played, and hates confrontation. He was traumatized by his confirmation hearing, and now has something like PTSD regarding “Russia,” Hillary, and the previous administration.
In other words, he’s scared sh!tless and there are only 2 choices, both bad.
1. Fire him. Then what? With Rosenstein then in charge of everything, he needs a new AG asap. With what the dems are doing with Kavenaugh, who would want to even try out for AG? They would drag out confirmation for a year.
2. Accept the situation, and do the best you can.
Sessions truly screwed Trump.
Truly.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Sessions resigned after the midterms and then ran for his old Senate seat against Doug Jones.
The man speaks the truth—he doesn’t have an AG !!
This is a warning shot, IMHO.
If I were Trump, I’d do the same thing — make it CLEAR I’ve had it because in mid-November I’d replace him.
In management they call it ‘make-him-or-break-him.’.
You reprimand. You push. You make it CLEAR before you pull the trigger. It should come as no surprise.

Please note:
As senator, Jeff Sessions was a rock star in here on this forum, for crying out loud. We all admired him. Maybe a few exceptions, but he was adored by Hannity too.
That’s one of my greatest criticisms of Trump.
He needs to be more of a “buck stops here” guy.
Even if nobody saw Sessions’ treachery coming the
responsibility for him being there is ultimately Trump’s.
When a POTUS does not assume this burden it does
come across as whining.
Give Jeffy a week, and if he doesn’t recluse himself and personally oversee the Document Declassification and public release - just announce his replacement as someone who you are going to appoint by Executive Order Mr. President. At the same time sign another Executive Order making it mandatory that Law Enforcement follow the laws and not politicians unless we are in a National State of Emergency by order of the president. Another Executive Order outlining the removal of Politicians at the State and Local Level (with mandatory 7-years jail) who try to impede law enforcement with stand down orders when political demonstrations are happening. Once the SCOTUS is locked and loaded, fasttrack the cases against the EOs while at the same time putting gag orders on those arrested for non-compliance by virtue of solitary confinement.
AGITA? Attorney General in Title Alone...
Yes, I also think Sessions is in over his head.
Thoughtful post:

Right. You would need Sessions to hang in there and remain loyal while you moninate his timely replacement.
AND — we need to kick the democrats’ tails during the mid-term. The more we win, the more clout Trump has.
