Yep... Chrome is still GOOGLE. And we are absolutely sure they can be trusted with everything they have associated their name with.
Using them both.
Apple iPhone and then FireFox on my devices.
Sounds like great news to me.
so what apps do i need on firefox? I use adblock plus already but is there something else to use?
Sorry, I couldnt give you any worthwhile advice on that. While Firefox was my go to web browser years ago, Ive long since gone to Safari.
Brave browser looks promising. I’m going to try it.
Anyone have any experience with it?
I use Ghostery and Privacy Badger with Firefox.
Ghostery is a free ap that detects and disables tracking software found on most websites. It's got a dashboard you can open after landing on a webpage that lists out every active tracker on the page, and allows you to green light them or block them.
Try it out. You'll be astounded at how many trackers are on some pages.
..... Also, DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials.
Haven’t seen an online commercial in a long time. Adblock Plus...
You need a secure vpn and a private email account if you want any measure of privacy.
Your ISP can now sell your browsing history, no browser can protect you from that.
Get Ghostery. You may have to pause or whitelist sites as you go, but it’s very effective for my Firefox.
i have Privacy Badger and will add Ghostery.
And apparently - "Encrypt the web! HTTPS Everywhere is a Firefox extension to protect your communications by enabling HTTPS encryption automatically on sites that are known to support it, even when you type URLs or follow links that omit the https: prefix."
I truly will miss the older versions of Firefox, including the ESR branch until a little bit ago. Mostly for the look and feel add-ons. The current Firefox is sterile looking, but I need something secure for my financial accounts.
I just installed Tor for Android. It has it’s own VPN and you can run other apps through the VPN, so Iattached Brave browser as well as a couple of other things I like to keep private.
I resent Google’s spying, and I avoid fb like the plague along with it’s sister Instagram. I resent Twitter and redit’s censorship, and don’t allow their apps on my equipment.
I’ve been on forums for years so if I need to talk to someone, there are places I can go. Otherwise, I have friends and family with texting, video phone etc. I have zero need for nasty sites who steal from you.
Need apps? Fdroid through tors VPN. None of Google’s business. I have as much of Google shut down as I possibly can and still have a functional unit.
Is it fool proof? Nope. None of it is, but locking down what you can when you can sure does say something.
What’s also nice is when I decide to use my laptop on the hotspot, it’s covered as well.
