Aalayah Eastmond, a survivor of the February mass shooting at a high school in Parkland, Fla., on Friday offered harrowing testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee during the final day of the hearing on the nomination of President Trump Supreme Court pick Brett Kavanaugh.
She expressed concern about Kavanaugh's views on guns, noting that she thinks he would strike down any assault weapons ban. She urged the committee to appoint a judge who will keep Americans safe from gun violence.
She told the committee in grave detail about the day a gunman opened fire in the classroom she was in and how she used the body of a classmate who had been shot to shield herself from the bullets.
I followed every movement of his body, she said. When he fell over, I fell over with him. I then placed myself underneath his lifeless body. Placing his arm across my body and my head underneath his back. Bullets continued flying.
She also slammed Kavanaugh over reports that he refused to shake the hand of a slain classmates father earlier in the week.
If Kavanaugh doesnt even have the decency to shake hands with the father of a victim, he definitely wont have the decency to make life-changing decisions that affect real people, she said.
Fred Guttenberg, whose daughter died in the Parkland shooting, has accused Kavanaugh of refusing to shake his hand when he tried to introduce himself to the nominee on Tuesday.
The White House pushed back on that account, saying security intervened, but Guttenberg has said he's certain Kavanaugh asked his security detail to remove him from the hearing room.
Why not show up with blood dripping from your hands to add to the visuals?
Trump’s the one peddling fear, though....

The committee doe not appoint.
The President appoints.
The Senate confirms.
Our education system produces idiots.
A distraction from Kavanaugh ?
You know, they keep talking about tents in political discussions. I just realized that they need to put a big-top tent over the capitol building
A Nutcase shot some People so have the SCOTUS take away the God Given Second Amendment Rights of 330,000 United States Citizens.
Got it.
I will strike down any assault weapons ban.
I don’t need some judge to uphold my God given right, doesn’t come from any judge.
At least it wan’t Anita Hill.
Lying piece of cr@p.
She did it to give Cory Booker another opportunity to weep on camera.
You’re missing three 000’s in that figure!
The want WAY more people to lose their rights.
OOPS...
Here you go, 000.
That this testimony was offered at a Supreme Court confirmation hearing speaks volumes about the Democrats’ view of the proper role of the judiciary.
So we get to hear how a new Supreme Court justice might rule on a hypothetical case, based on the opinion of an emotional kid?
Unreal. Grassley needs to take control of this BS.
They think we are idiots.
This is moot. The question is not how he feels about gun rights and specific cases. The question is how he feels about the constitution.
Imagine them bringing in people who were in a multiple car pile up and watched their loved ones die - and they testify that cars need to be outlawed. What does that have to do with this? This isn’t the SCOTUS. This is a hearing to discuss a nomination.
The Democrats have gone insane.
They have no constructive ideas - they have no leadership and as Obama has shown once again today - they can only lie and attack anybody who doesnt accept them as their enlightened rulers.
The party needs to be dissolved. It is anti-American and it is obstructionist purely for reasons of power.
#WalkAway.
Uh, why? Wasn’t aware of this segment where folks speak out in chambers/confirmation hearings. Guess I missed that part. Oh, and other violent acts——— meh!
