White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders ripped the anonymous senior White House staffer who wrote an op-ed for the New York Times slamming President Trumps conduct.
The individual behind this piece has chosen to deceive, rather than support, the duly elected President of the United States, she said in a statement. He is not putting country first, but putting himself and his ego ahead of the will of the American people.
This coward should do the right thing and resign, she added.
The statement follows criticism from Trump himself, who called the op-eds author gutless.
The author of the op-ed wrote that there are multiple people in the administration who are acting as a check on the presidents misguided impulses.
We want the administration to succeed and think that many of its policies have already made America safer and more prosperous. But we believe our first duty is to this country, and the president continues to act in a manner that is detrimental to the health of our republic. That is why many Trump appointees have vowed to do what we can to preserve our democratic institutions while thwarting Mr. Trumps more misguided impulses until he is out of office, the staffer writes.
The White House aide says meetings with Trump often veer off topic and off the rails and slams the president as amoral.
The root of the problem is the presidents amorality. Anyone who works with him knows he is not moored to any discernible first principles that guide his decision making, the staffer says.
Any successes from the White House have come despite not because of the presidents leadership style, which is impetuous, adversarial, petty and ineffective, the author wrote.
he adds.
Sanders statement also issued a defense of the president.
President Trump has laid out a bold and ambitious agenda. Every day since taking office, he has fulfilled the promises he made. His accomplishments in less than two years have been astounding, she said.
The Trump administration has repeatedly railed against The New York Times, slamming it as fake news and labeling it the failing New York Times.
We are disappointed, but not surprised, that the paper chose to publish this pathetic, reckless and selfish op-ed. This is a new low for the so-called paper of record, and it should issue an apology
This is just another example of the liberal medias concerted effort to discredit the president, Sanders said.
Just watch your trolls here on FR.
They will never out the Presidents troll but they will out themselves. They can’t help it.
I think you guys are right and that Pence is probably not the author. I do think that perhaps it is a set up to undermine him as well although I’m not a particular fan.
I’m very angry and distressed about this. I had hoped not to live in a banana republic.
“This anonymous coward should have the guts to step forward and resign and the NYT truly are slimes for printing it.”
Yes, resign from the NYT, because that’s where he/she works. This is not an administration official.
I’d wager it is fake and designed to make Trump suspicious of a lot of his staff...
Great graphic! The Eeeevil Queen has lost all her cachet!
Yes! Great comparison. And he will prevail, as Lincoln did.
Pence is a man of integrity. . He would never do this. Look for someone way lower on thr Totem Pole...a bottom feeder.
I’d like to see your take.
If it’s him, that’s going to be really really messed up and it’s going to do tremendous damage to Trump. I can’t believe he would be such a backstabbing rat like that not to mention so stupid, but on the other hand who does use the word “lodestar”? I wasn’t even aware that was a word. I would imagine right now Trump is asking him to his face if he did it, I’m praying he didn’t.
I say the whole thing is Fake News...a HOAX by disgruntled DemocRATS! Journalistic “ethics” = oxymoron!
Did you bother to actually read the post of mine that you replied to?
If you truly don't know to what I was referring to, then you aren't worth replying to and this site is worthless to you, as you've never learned anything from it.
This is worse than living in a Banana Republic...it’s a badly written Sci-Fi/distopian novel or script. And though I really enjoyed reading reading BRAVE NEW WORLDS, 1984, WE, FAHRENHEIT 451, etc., as a young teen, I never wanted to nor imagined that I would actually live through such scenarios.
I’ll bet Mika and Joe know who she is...
I’ve found over time people here have different pinch points. However if you can’t articulate yours, then I’m fine.
"Pinch point" ?
You're just lazy and trying to have an argument over a very simple query of mine. Pity that you are unable to articulate a few simple, over wrought, biased, stupid calumnies that have been out there for years.
Now we’re living in those books.
Re 1984 especially, because so many in this nation really ARE damned MARXISTS/SOCIALISTS/COMMIES and that is what Orwell was actually writing about.
