John McCain is being laid to rest at the U.S. Naval Academy after a five-day procession that served as a final call to arms for a nation he warned could lose its civility and sense of shared purpose.
The private ceremony in Annapolis, Maryland, was as carefully planned as the rest of McCain's farewell tour, which began in Arizona after he died Aug. 25 from brain cancer and stretched to Washington.

The amazing thing is that probably three-quarters of working-class democrats have a fairly low opinion of McCain, and nearly 90-percent of working-class Republicans feel the same way.
Did Ted Kennedy receive this amount of media coverage? I can’t think of any other deceased U.S. Senator receiving this much pomp. Maybe Robert F. Kennedy, but I wasn’t alive then, plus the coverage probably stemmed more from the circumstances surrounding his death than anything else.
It would be creepy if our alarms went off every morning playing, “I Got You, Babe”, and every station showed McCain’s funeral. Forever.
Having Ted Kennedy buried in Arlington is an utter travesty. It still makes me angry.
I imagine there are many Navy vets who feel the same way about McCain being buried at Annapolis.
Based on media reports, McCain will rise from the dead tomorrow.
This whole story feels like it’s been going on for 81 years.
The final one of his original runs of funerals is finally today. I think the off-Broadway revival of his Wagnerian Funeral Cycle starts on Tuesday.
A shame he’ll be more or less colocated in the vicinity of John Paul Jones.
I am old enough to remember Robert Kennedy’s funeral on TV, but I don’t remember how many days the media was talking about him.
And I am sure that most of the people praising McCain now didn’t vote for him in 2008.
Its about time.
McCains journey will end with a 6’ hole in the ground.
With fresh dirt thrown on top.
Ready to be “naturally fertilized”.
As often as possible.
He will be a distant memory by evening.
Hopefully the McCain legislation putting a muzzle on all efforts for MIAs is overturned and McCain’s own records are divulged.
Finally.
For me this is a relief. I thought McCain was going to be buried at Arlington, too. Will future Naval cadets be required to take part in ceremonies at the grave?
“McCains journey will end with a 6 hole in the ground.”
Reminds me of the story from elementary school, “How Much Land Does a Man Need?”
They already have a movie planned to release next week. No joke it has him and Hillary in it talking about Russia.
ALL if this was timed to drag out as long as possible for political gain
