Why Bush and Obama’s eulogies of John McCain were historic
The Washington Post ^ | 09-01-2018 | Steve Hendrix

In Washington, high-profile funerals often fall to vice presidents.

“You die, I’ll fly” was how George H.W. Bush summed up the frequent funeral part of his portfolio when he was Ronald Reagan’s No. 2 in the 1980s. (Bush attributed the quip to Secretary of State James A. Baker.)

But sometimes, the passing of an august figure requires words from the highest political voice in the country, a sitting or former president.

President Trump did not attend Saturday’s memorial service for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) at Washington National Cathedral. Nor has Trump spoken at a funeral since moving into the White House, according to Gerhard Peters, a political-science professor and a keeper of the American Presidency Project at the University of California at Santa Barbara, a comprehensive database of presidential speeches, briefings, fireside chats, toasts and other public utterances dating to the Hoover administration.

But McCain was eulogized by two former occupants of the Oval Office: Barack Obama and George W. Bush.

The pair remembered McCain as a man of ideals and convictions — a man “who had been to hell and back” and still kept his optimism.

George McGovern was more of a hero than John McCain. He flew 35 bomber missions over Europe during World War II.

Agreed.

I was speaking to those he saw as foes but honorable and those he saw as foes but not honorable. Apparently those foes he saw as honorable felt the same wsy.

McCain died as a thin skinned Republican elitist, doing bitter things to President Donald Trump who is a great man elected for and by the People. McCain was Obama’s dimmi , doing Obama’s bidding to support the jihad and ISIS.Obama used McCain like a common street whore who was left giggling because she had a few extra campaign bucks in her purse. McCain clad himself in our flag to actually betray our country. And IMHO McCain knew exactly what Obama was using him for.

McCain was a decent enough politician until he lost the 2002 GOP presidential nomination to GW Bush. After that he was incredibly bitter. That is when he should have retired in 2002 because subsequently he was an agent provocateur to the GOP and actually sometimes engaged in treasonous activity internationally. He was strangely quiet on the Benghazi fiasco, when he could have led the charge.

One lurid example of McCain’s treasonous conduct was the bogus arms deal he brokered in Syria with the Magic Negro’s help, about 500 million dollars of small arms to a Syrian group of rebels of about 12 men who McCain had met for a photo op.The arms were sold on the black market in Syria as fast as they arrived, to ISIS and the Jihad, later to be used against our US soldiers and allies. The arms dealers in McCain’s pocket tickled his scrotum with $$$ on that one, and McCain once again became Obama’s dimmi. Most Americans do not even know about this fiasco or the methods Obama used to support the jihad instead of fighting it.Obama used McCain to actually support ISIS.

https://www.huffingtonpost.com/jon-soltz/five-hundred-million-down_b_7764280.html

McCain did little or nothing to help the cause against liberal fascism ,promoted and implemented by Obama.McCain could have been heroic in 2008 campaign but he fizzled, his powder wet instead of dry. Therefore the left now cynically lauds Senator McCain’s life, the way that Muslims laud their dimmis.

This article by Laz shows a genuinely true picture of McCain:

the lying leftist fake stream enemedia doesn’t give two hoots about John Mccain ... they hated his guts and attacked him as an “extremist” Republican when he ran against obama ... and there was nothing really special about John McCain as a legislator other than the fact that he was virulently anti-Trump and single-handedly prevented the abolishment of obamacare ... John McCain was a petty, jealous, globalist, Uniparty sellout, and these universal over-the-top eulogies are nothing more than an attempt to keep this deceased anti-Trumper in the headlines for a few more days as a means to advertise his from-beyond-the-grave anti-Trump “documentaries” before everyone completely forgets that John McCain ever existed ...

The media praises McCain to damn Trump.

If Hillary were President, there would have been a tiny blurb on page 18 of the New York Times titled "John McCain, Racist Opponent of Lightbringer Obama, Dies at 81." :)

what an absolute disgrace, and immature act to exclude the sitting president of the united states from the funeral- The McCains have proven to be petty immature, and disrespectful. Political differences aside, a Senator SHOULD at the very least, have enough decorum and respect to invite ALL presidents, current and past, who are still alive and able, to attend. I’m sorry for the loss of the McCain family, but what a shame that they are so immature, so petty and so disrespectful to the office of the presidency-

Compare with Bob Dole.

....

He won’t get one-tenth the coverage of McCain when he passes. And why? Because he supports the current Republican President.

Dole won't get the coverage because he already left the Senate.

Now you know why McCain didn't resign when he found out he was sick.

Ted Kennedy stayed in office for the same reason.

Because they didn't step down, they could force these funerals on the capital and the country.

As somebody who's already left the political scene, Dole is in the same category as McGovern.

As with Ferraro and Kemp and Bentsen, people won't even be quite sure if he's still alive or already passed on.

I'm not saying McCain would be getting all this hoopla if he supported Trump, but he wouldn't be getting it if he'd already stepped back into the sidelines.

The sad thing is that when Dole passes, you’ll probably just hear a bunch of Viagara jokes.

What was Obama’s speech? “He took a dive for me, I’ll never forget what a fool he was for doing that?”

That made me laugh...

Dole will be remembered largely for a certain product endorsement.

Odd that he’s still alive, considering that the libs decided that he was too old to be president when he ran in 1996.

The fact that this @$$#0le would invite the Clintons and Obama and prohibit Sarah Palin from the funeral makes it clear to me that John McCain deserves all the vitriol he is getting. May he rot in Hell.

If you really thought you had a choice before Trump came along, just watch this funeral”

It was an EPIC cast of the dregs of American political miscreants.

Even Kissinger was there talking about his “honor” being saved.

Truly a “you can’t make it up” scene. It even had Saturday Night Live moments with obama haughtily smirking at Lindsey Graham as he walked by him. LOL
