US Representative Joe Crowley, who just two weeks ago lost the Democratic Party nomination for New Yorks 14th Congressional district to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in dramatic fashion, looks set to remain on the November ballot as the candidate for the Working Families Party.
Oops.
**SNIP**
New Yorks election laws do not allow the WFP to remove Crowley from its ballot line. Nor is Crowley allowed to simply remove himself. The only option is for Crowley to somehow make himself ineligible. Or die. Crowley (somewhat understandably) is reluctant to do this.
Having achieved the most dramatic primary win of the season and become a national figure as a result, Ocasio-Cortez is nonplussed to find her former challenger still on the November ballot.
Tensions boiled over on Twitter yesterday when an ugly exchange erupted between the two:

Like when people refuse to accept the result of a democratic election?
That kind of erosion?
we talked about this 5 weeks ago. And so far he is not running./ campaigning.
As if.
Only repubs do this to each other.
The WFP would more honestly be called the public employee’s union party. That’s who they actually represent.
As far as I know, he’s still on the ballot.
She is criss-crossing the country, on somebody else's dime, making a fool of herself endorsing losers and spewing leftist claptrap. Bad optics. What first-time Congressional candidate do you know of ever traveled and endorsed candidates from different states?
The people in her district are rightfully pissed and telling themselves or their family and friends "I'm not going to be represented by this air-headed loser."
Also, Pelosi and the DNC establishment doesn't want her either.
Is there a Republican running. Perhaps one could take advantage of the split ticket.
I know it is unlikely as it a a Democrat area, but anything is possible.
The district she is running in is latino- it’s the reason that Pelosi’s #2 lost to her, he’s white.
They will vote for her in the general because she is La Raza
“As far as I know, hes still on the ballot.”
Well there is a case where I hope a filthy democrat beats a filthier democrat.
Doesn't matter. Crowley has the power of incumbency and influence. When residents of the district need emergency funds for a broken bridge, for example, you think AOC will have the knowledge, let alone the power, to haggle leadership and insert that project into a spending bill?
I’ll miss her.:-)
One of the best laughs I had this summer is when she said the good healthcare will save a lot of money that would have been spent on funerals.
Dumb as a rock.
.
But the voters there went identity politics in the primary- why won’t they do that again?
Dumber than a rock.
I hope she loses so badly. I don’t want to have to deal with her for another 20 years.
Plus the meltdown would be worth it when her delusional fanbase is shocked.
Not necessarily. That's what the media wants you to think.
The primary was very low turnout. However, in an ironic sort of way, AOC has now put this district on the map with her celebrity.
If I lived in her district, and I saw her running around the country endorsing people and trying to be some Queen-maker rather than focusing on the needs of the district, you think I'm going to vote for that candidate?
The answer is no, and this is the attitude of New Yorkers. They want stuff done, if something breaks or if they need funds, their Congresscritter better be on the phone answering it and doing a press conference in his district, not in Los Angeles hanging out with celebrities.
Can you imagine her being on a select committee trying to interrogate someone?
He came unprepared for the debate with her. No tie. Smart. He won’t campaign because he knows it will tear the party apart. Now if theaters want to GIVE the seat to him...
2 weeks ago????? Good grief it seems a year ago.
