It seems the employer isn’t as clean as first claimed. It’s not hard to find and use E-Verify.

They didn't use e-verify because it would have prevented them from hiring illegal aliens. Using the SS system to check the validity of a stolen SSN is not a check. In fact, there have been cases in companies where multiple employees were using the same stolen SSN.

Mandatory e-verify will go a long way towards preventing the hiring of illegal aliens.

I don’t know if it’s still the case, but I think it used to be if documents “appear” to be real employers accept them..
