He was just trying to rescue his bird, but he ended up needing a rescue himself.
A Belleville man got stuck in waist-deep mud Sunday afternoon when his pet parrot flew off his shoulder and into the center of one of the dredged lakes at Bicentennial Park.
Fire crews were called to the scene at 4:30 p.m. after a bystander in the park heard the man calling for help. When crews arrived, they faced a sticky situation, Belleville Fire Chief Tom Pour said.
He was probably several hundred feet out into the mud with the parrot on his back, Pour said Sunday evening. It was challenging because you couldnt just walk out there and hoist him out. It was like quicksand.

Blue & Gold’s are the best of friends.
You have no idea how tough those birds are.
I kept & bred large parrots for 15 years before I became allergic to them.
Then I kept them for 10 more years until my health was in danger.
Miss my feathered friends...made sure they went to wonderful homes.

I sense fowl play at work here.
The bird led him out there then sat on his shoulder repeating “don’t you wish you could fly? awwwk!”

A fat guy walks into a bar with a parrot on his shoulder.
The barkeep says, “Cool! Where did you get him?”
The parrot says, “Walmart. They’re everywhere.”
