Angered that an immigrant mother and her daughter who are plaintiffs in a lawsuit had been deported, a federal judge demanded the administration turn the plane carrying them around and stop removing people from the country who are seeking protection from gangs and domestic violence.
The court ruling came in a lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union. According to a statement by the ACLU, while U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan was hearing arguments in the case, the court learned that the Trump administration had put a mother and a daughter who are plaintiffs in the lawsuit on a flight to Central America.
Sullivan, who had been assured by the government in open court that no plaintiffs in the suit would be deported before midnight Friday, ordered the plane turned around, the ACLU said.

So does the president run the country or the judiciary?
Is certain no money is involved. Intentions of the judge and his court are as pure as the wind driven snow
There are a lot of confrontations in the works now.
These judges are out of control. Worst branch of government by far.
If the judiciary runs the country it means that we've got as many Presidents of the United States as there are federal courts.
Right. Judicial activism against the Constitutional separation of powers needs to have this judge arrested and tried for treasonous behavior. The FA, a part od the Executive branch, should be directed by the President to ignore the Federal Judge’s orders and continue to carry out the lawful deportation of illegal aliens who should have no standing in any court at this time.
So the United States government is not only delegated to solving all of life’s problems for Americans, but for everyone else on Planet Earth, too?
Gee, Americans sure are swell.
“So does the president run the country or the judiciary?”
Sure! This guy is a “Holder’s Person,” so he has “special powers!”
The article did not mention that the plane DID NOT turn around?
Sullivan is getting a bitch slapping from the president, justly deserved.
It shouldn’t cost a million dollars to get rid of an interloper.
How does that work? In ATC terms? How does the plane turn around?
No doubt there are Freepers who know, cynwoody not among them!
Er... commercial aircraft generally carry just enough fuel for the sortie... with a tad extra.
When O Catalina do you intend to crease abusing our patience?
Catalina=Cataline. After Trump deals with the DS maybe he can take on their great legacy to undermine the world - spell check.
Where do WE go to get away from the gangs and violence this judge causes?
So why isn't President Trump standing up to them? This plane was in the air.....it wasn't even in US jurisdiction. It should not have turned around.
You have to watch that auto correct every keystroke.
The article doesnt say whether the aircraft was a commercial passenger plane or perhaps a government aircraft.
Never the less, whoever owns the aircraft has communications to the cockpit via their own flight operations. Then, its just a matter of contacting ATC and amending the flight plan.
