Republican State Sen. Troy Balderson, 56, eked out a win in Tuesdays down-to-the-wire special election to fill Ohios 12th congressional district after trailing Democrat Danny Lawyer much of the evening.
I thank the thousands and thousands of volunteers who worked in this campaign and I want to thank President Trump and Vice President Pence and the big shoes without whom I would not have gotten through this process, Congressman Pat Tiberi, said Balderson

Democrats will continue to cheat. 90 % turnout is suspicious. Repubs better get a hold on this for November.
I thought the same when listening to Balderson last night ... and Balderson is such a lackluster candidate. The opposite of POTUS.
How much money did the DNC dump into this race?
It’s not over yet. Absentee Ballots could make a difference.
The link is so cluttered with crap it takes forever to load
There is NOTHING to celebrate here... this race should have never been close. GOP didnt pull anything close to their last midterm numbers not even 70% of their last midterm turnout numbers and DEMS got around 90% of their presidential year turnout numbers!
The GOPe better wake up and realize simply running the same messaging and ads you have for 20 years is NOT going to win! You need those non traditional And crossover MAGA and cross over voters to win, when you have a Dem base that is as motivated as the Dems base is right now! Particularly in the upper Midwest!
You are not going to hold the house this fall with a campaign that simply panders to get the reliable base to turn out. If you do not talk to and give a reason for those non traditional voters to care and show up, you will lose a lot of pink and purple districts and the house!
Wake UP!
According to OH law those ballots can not be counted until Aug 18 I believe.
The GOP is trying to lose.
The only problem is there is a redo in November. Does yesterday’s apparent defeat dispirited the dems and they stay home or does it energize them to an even greater turnout in what should be a safe district that came within striking distance?
You have it backwards, the reliable base are the nationalist patriots and not the globalist GOPE hacks.
It was a rigged fight and the GOPe guy was supposed to throw the fight but Trump ruined the plan!
If the Dem candidates in November do 5 percentage points better than the norm for their district, and the Republicans do 5 percentage points worse than average for their district, how many GOP seats would flip?
90% of what they would have in a presidential election year, not 90% of the electorate.
No I dont have it backwards. The GOPe is running a stupid campaign that is going to lose them the house.
If they dont realize they need those non traditional MAGA and cross over voters to win this fall and start talking to them and giving them a reason to show up... expect the GOP to lose the house.. period.
If the ONLY people they talking to is your reliable base,, they will get beat by dem turnout which is highly motivated in a lot of purple and pink districts.
PA18 should have finally forced the GOP to realize this... obviously it did not.
Holdung the house is more important than purity. Only the house can impeach. Only the house can originate a spending bill.
Everyone should keep in mind that the RAT in this race ran pretty conservative and did not diss Trump.
RATs will lie to win. People should make sure to point that out when running against a RAT deceiver.
The race is close, so it says something. Of course we heard about some possible ballot stuffing in late reporting RAT districts.
There is actually a 1754 vote difference. There is, on average, an 80 percent acceptance rate for so-called “provisional ballots” - that would take us to 2640 assuming there are 3300 out there, as claimed. For the Dem to overcome a 1754 vote lead, he would have to win by 2200 to 440 over the Rep in the provisional ballots - not likely but anything is possible when the “press” is on your side.
