Texas-based Defense Distributed has indefinitely delayed plans to release new 3D printable gun files, an attorney for the group says, amid mounting political pushback and widespread complaints about inaccurate news reporting.
Many Democratic officials, joined by President Trump, have expressed unease about 3D-printed guns, with Trump tweeting Tuesday, "I am looking into 3-D Plastic Guns being sold to the public. Already spoke to NRA, doesnt seem to make much sense!"
Defense Distributed decided Friday to delay publication of new printable gun files, attorney Josh Blackman told the Washington Examiner, before resistance to a planned Aug. 1 release date reached new intensity in Washington.

“Misreporting”?
Try “outright lies and fabrication by the nedia and Democrat yelping dogs”.
I don’t see how a printed gun would be strong enough to hold the pressure of modern rounds with smokeless powder.
It is cognitive dissonance.
Anti-gun types know guns cannot be made at home.
Someone shows them, in a way they understand, that they can be made at home.
Cognitive dissonance happens.
Guns have been made at home for centuries.
The designer in this case has a YouTube video to show you, and the reality is the materials science is only going to get better and better.
He had an 'expert' on who knew as little as he did and they both talked about printable guns as if it came out of the printer ready to fire. What a load of garbage.
They showed a clip of an AR type rifle with a printed lower (white) firing away like someone else bought the ammo, with a voice over about how these would be everywhere, strongly implying the entire firearm was printed.
Lying liars all the way.
Now I hear the guy has decided to not release his designs because of media uproar and something President Trump said. I have no doubt some non-gun person has repeated BS into his ear.
Crap meet crock.
Anyone remember what happened when Daffy Duck tried to stuff the genii back in the lamp?
That is where we are. A 3d printed gun today doesn’t make much sense ($19K for the machine, $1K for the plans, and about $5K more for the materials) but in a few years those costs will come down (note the costs for a plastic gun, good for a few shots are less but still in the $ thousands).
Better to walk up to the issue now and deal with it. It will happen underground or in the open but it WILL happen.
I don’t know what all the fuss is...
All we have to do is 3D print our guns our of CLEAR plastic, AND THEY’LL BE INVISIBLE, TOO!!
You can make a weapon that will last longer with a piece if wood,a section of antenna,a nail and rubber band.
Huh? You can buy a 3D printer for less than $100 and good ones start at around $500. The materials are nowhere around that expensive and the plans are free.
He’s talking about printers that will print metal, and a more usable gun. Not the plastic gimmicks people are panicking about.
There's nothing for you to "look into", Donald. You're a public servant, sworn to uphold the Constitution. "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED".
I heard that with this file I can print a plastic gun and plastic ammunitio9n with my laser printer that is undetectable by TSA goons.
Pass it on.
Not sold to the public. Given to the public free of charge. It’s the code/plans to make a single shot pistol with a 3-D printer. It’s software not hardware. It should have been available and is already available on the dark web to anyone for free.
Homemade Zip guns have been around as almost as long as firearms. At least as long as metal plumbing pipes.
That’s a horse of a different color. Why not just buy an AR-15 at Wal-Mart for $600 than go through all that hassle?
The only way to stop laser printed guns is to outlaw laser printers.
Because you can’t in several states, like California. And it isn’t hard to imagine a future where “assault rifles” are banned at scale. Remember 1994?
If not through googling, then on the "Dark Web" that is supposed to exist according to the entertainment media.
In any event, the cat is out of the bag for people who really want these things and are willing to pay for them.
