I can foresee a situation where the Democrats nominate Biden as the best chance to beat Trump, and then pair him with someone like Booker or Harris with the understanding that he'll serve one term and then have his veep run in 2024.
The Dems must have a minority on the ticket, either at the top or as VP. Obama could anoint Biden as an honorary black man.

The professional political class still doesn’t understand Trump. The good news that until they do they will continues to lose elections to him.
IMHO Trump regards his presidency as a repayment to the Republic. It is NOT a job. Once he completes his tour of duty to the Republic he gets back his freedoms, moves back into a home almost as luminous as the White House, an extremely large pay raise, and a private airplane that rivals the comforts of Air Force One.
Todate almost all of his opponents depend on winning elections to put food on the table.
