The vast majority of Republicans support the way President Trump handled his first summit meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday, according to a new Axios poll.
The poll said 80 percent of Republicans approved of Trumps performance, while only 8 percent of Democrats feel the same way.
The partisan split could be seen in other things the poll measured. For example, 85 percent of Republicans think the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 elections is more of a distraction, while on the other side, 85 percent of Democrats feel that the possibility of coordination between the two entities is a serious issue.

...”Why did the liberals go full meltdown mode, and compare the damn press conference to 9/11, Pearl Harbor, Kristallnacht(sp?) in Nazi Germany?????”...
In reality, the President did nothing wrong. He went to this Summit to try and establish a peaceful connection with the other great nuclear power in the world, which is a first step toward assuring that we all will have less of a chance of dying in a nuclear holocaust. Also, in reality, the Deep State mob out to get him would have found some ridiculous reason to to try and convince this population that “peace is war, health is disease, night is day, and 2+2=5.” Their reason for living is to destroy this President and to steal back the power they think they lost in the last election. These are dark times which Al Capone could never have dreamed of.
All that has been happening I love it. Added bonus the GOPs that attacked our President more are out of the cover of the swamp.
“Thats 40% approve, 56% disapprove, which is obviously not good, despite how some are trying to spin it.”
true. I think what tempers the bad news is that 3.5 months from now we WON’T be at war with Russia, and the economy will be going gangbusters. Everything the Dems have predicted, has not come true. That has to start being reflected at the polls.
Because they’re idiots
No doubt some of those Republicans who disapprove, disapprove because he tried to walk back the original statements.
We don’t support or believe “America’s Intelligence Agencies” and are unhappy with any watering down of the original dig.
AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!
The “somewhat disapprove” are easily persuaded by other factors they care more about.
It’s just not a big deal to them.
Unlike yourself.
I can’t believe that people who believe as they do could possibly approve of Trump by 8%.
Nah, something is wrong with that figure.
To be a Democrat today, you have to be out of your mind.
“When was the watershed moment when did the tide go out on that?”
It happened when Obama cozied up to the Neoconservatives.
And brought the anti-American left and the anti-Russian left together again.
They are now confined to the US, Europe and Islam. They are fighting an existential war for their very survival.

“Republican Leaders” who criticized Trump over Putin meeting:
Paul Ryan
John McCain
Tim Scott (!)
Ben Sasse
Bob Corker
Liz Chaney
Susan Collins
Trey Gowdy
Linda Graham (South Carolina, WTF?)
Will Hurd
Jeff Flake
Mitt Romney
Rob Portman
Republicans who insisted they supported the Intelligence Community (obliquely slamming President Trump):
Mitch McConnell
Marco Rubio
Adam Kinzinger
Orin Hatch
Frank LoBiondo
Jim Banks
There are more, but I don’t have a fuller list.
I do want to see one thing VERY much, and that is:
Republican rank and file voters, when any of the above are running for reelection, vote 80 percent against them.
The same numbers that support President Trump need to be AGAINST these fools and their running their mouths in front of the Socialist Media (who incidentally, hate them, but LOVE to use them) cameras.
That would stop this crap in a minute.
They need to pay where it counts. WE (Rank and file Republicans) can make that happen—or not.
Seriously, how can you look at or listen to the likes of Maxine Waters, Bernie Sanders or Jay Behar...all the while nodding your head in approval...and not be mentally unbalanced?
><
That’s an excellent point and the reason is that Mad Maxine,
crazy Pelosi, et al are more sane and smarter than those who continue to support them.
I agree. And I like Rand Paul.
A majority disapproved of Reagans performance in Reykjavik at first. The hawks were even more outraged than the liberals.
><
And we can remember Reagan’s “Mr. Gorbechev, take down this wall” which many idn’t want him to say.
The sad part is most of the Democrats don’t care about the truth. They only want to be told what they want to hear.
They don’t want to be individually inconvenienced or lose benefits but have no problem removing choices for others and making life for others difficult.
Was there any question? You know, these leftist/rinos/media think that they scream “Russia Russia Russia” and we all go blind. We know the hacking did not even happen. It was a thumb drive transfer. We dont care if DNC emails ,showing the truth about the rigging of their nomination were released so the poor Sanders people could see how bad it was, And I , for one, seek improved relations with Russia and increased trade because it is not fair that Germany has pipeline trade with Russia and we dont!! Also strategically you need to view China as the greatest military threat on earth with it’s 1.3 BILLION people and Monster military. We need Russia ( which is now a Christian nation) to be in alliance with us against the Chinese to keep them in check.
LOL. I guess this proves that the country is truly divided. All because of Trump. If Romney, McCain, Bush1 or Bush2 were President this would never happen.
And for good reason: The Uniparty never eats its own.
Wow! The MSM cannot touch this guy!
Not true. What matters MOST in politics today is to keep your base with you and motivated. Each election is basically decided by which side decides to turn out. The “middle” is basically composed of bandwagon jumpers.
22 percent Black approval!
True!
