Paul will come to realize opposing Kavanaugh will be hazardous to his career and will vote for him.
Paul may be an asshole but he’s not stupid. He is smart enough to know that this is Trump’s party now and crossing over a hissy fit can bring problems.
He’s not that smart. This from an old article from Vox:
“Kavanaugh was tasked with investigating the death of deputy White House counsel Vince Foster in 1994, which many conservatives believed (absurdly) to be suspicious a murder rather than a suicide. Kavanaugh and the rest of Starrs investigators concluded that it was indeed a suicide.”
I thought it was liberals who believed in attaching tags with super glue.
Kavanaugh is considered strong on executive privilege. Wrote in one case a president could/should not be tried for criminal conduct while in office. The Constitutional remedy is impeachment and removal, not prosecution.
If he’s a John Roberts, big mistake.
Rand has said he’ll keep an open mind
A great man, a textulist, an originalist, a brilliant jurist with over 300 opinions, wonderful family and personal history, and Rand Paul is being an asshole again.
Who does he think he is, some butthurt internet poster who didn’t get his first choice?
Did you hear the man speak tonight. I’ll take that any day of the week
Dang you Rand Paul. I like you but you need to be more of a team player!
Course something recently he said he wouldn’t vote but when it came down to it, he did.
I guess I like him then, Lol !!!
Trump going for a Bushie is a sign of consolidating power, and also extending an olive branch to the Bush wing of the party. Just not the Jeb Bush wing.
Trump is going to need allies, as all the people who brought him to the dance are gone.
The risk is that Bushies fill the (whole lot of) empty slots around the administration.
Who will co-opt whom first?
Time: In one of his notable decisions, Kavanaugh voted to reject a Washington, D.C. ban on handguns, semi-automatic firearms and automatic firearms. He wrote a dissent based on the logic of Heller v. District of Columbia, stating that courts should assess gun regulations based on text, history and tradition.
Paul always screams and bangs his drum then comes along at the last minute (see the recent vote for Secretary of State, who he said he would NEVER vote for). In other words he’s an attention whore...
They can always switch parties (assuming the primary is still in play).
Rand Paul, always trying to make a big-name for himself by grandstanding. As usual.
Nobody’s ever going to be perfect, Rand. If our side were always waiting for perfect we sure wouldn’t have DJT as president. No, we’d have Hillary Rotten Clinton and things would REALLY suck.
He has gone away. He’s retired. And he was in the House, not the Senate. Whats your point?
Well that's not going to help him get confirmed - is it? :)
