Rep. Ted Deutch (D-Fla.) said the development of smart guns should be part of the gun-control conversation, arguing that a gun owner should not be able to fire a gun without some sort of verification like a thumbprint that's needed to unlock a smartphone.
Deutch also said that there are efforts underway to require gun manufacturers to incorporate smart technology in firearms but that the NRA is standing in the way.
"Yes, there are absolutely efforts. The technology has advanced where weve seen this kind of technology using guns," Deutch said during a conference call briefing with the Jewish Democratic Council of America this spring.
"It's a good thing to point out. People get it - when you just simply hold up your phone and show them that you can't get into your phone without a thumbprint, you shouldn't be able to fire a gun - you have an opportunity to save lives this way and this needs to become part of the conversation again ... the technology is there, it's the NRA who doesn't want it," he added.

[[arguing that a gun owner should not be able to fire a gun without some sort of verification like a thumbprint that’s needed to unlock a smartphone.]]
Yes because the constitution clearly states that we have the right to bear arms ONLY IF our firearms contain fingerprint verification programs (that incidental could and WILL break down at just the wrong moment and leave the armed victim defenseless against an armed attacker who will NOT have such an asinine gun which would be susceptible to failure)
[[but we would still have almost 400 million guns.]]
Which they will make illegal the moment a smart gun law goes into effect- There likely won’t be door to door confiscation, but anyone owning a ‘dumb gun’ after the law is passed will be deemed a felon if police find such a gun on them or in home or whatever when police are investigating other crimes or pull someone over-
Smart gun manufacturers will then be required to create the software that requires that the gun be examined say monthly for compliance, and for software effectiveness- or to be calibrated at gun owner’s expense every month or so- Anyone not complying will be found in contempt of law-

You first, Deutch bag.
My 1898 Winchester single-shot, bolt-action .22, that my father carved the stock, I think, is a little too old to be retro-fitted with this new whiz-bang technology.
He’s probably related to that other douche bag on morning joke.
Most don’t think you should be able to vote, get entitlements or cross the border without positive ID either. How’s that going ?
This from 2015. Note position of the 'watch' to enable the weapon to fire... The watch enables the weapon. No comment on this part, other than - if they can steal the gun, they can steal or make the watch part.
A Smarter gun? How about this one - batteries not included as none are needed?
You shouldn’t be able to vote without photo ID.
“You shouldnt be allowed to BE a Parkland Congressman
Broward county is full of transplanted east coast liberals just like this guy. There they think that this guy and people like Debbie Blabbermouth Schultz make perfect sense. Pure liberal think! (speak)
I think anyone from the east coast needs to take a test and obtain a license before emigrating to a state outside of the eastern seaboard. It’s a CDC thing as far as I can see. The rest of the country is tired of being infected by these mental cases and their offspring! (Hogg)
“..transplanted east coast liberals...”
Less “transplanted” and more infiltrated.
This is what they do.
Probably should require the same for a Congress critter to enter the House Chambers, every time they enter and/or exit.
These people need to be run out of office.
Now remember....you have to have the murder weapon to start with.
So what was the point of the thumbprint again?? To save lives??
Now, if they're talking "tracking" the gun....that falls to search and seizure...
Just a bunch of cr**.
“So Deutch is a Secular Progressive Jewish carpetbagger from PA.”
His Grandparents were Commies who lost and who we took in in droves. If the U.S. had rejected immigrants from the U.S.S.R. starting in the early 20’s we’d be a lot better off. Red Diaper babies.
Congressman, you shouldnt be able to run for office without passing a comprehensive written and oral exam on the US Constitution.
