Supreme Court Finalist Brett Kavanaugh Called “More Conservative” Than Justice Scalia
LifeNews ^ | July 6, 2018 | MICAIAH BILGER

Judge Brett Kavanaugh is receiving high praises from conservatives as President Donald Trump considers him for the U.S. Supreme Court.

Trump is expected to soon name a replacement for retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy, a swing vote on abortion rulings. His retirement means Trump will have the opportunity to appoint a second Supreme Court justice who could be a deciding vote in overturning Roe v. Wade and restoring protections for unborn babies in America.

The president reportedly has narrowed down his list to four, including Kavanaugh, who has served on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit for the past 10 years. Kavanaugh has a lengthy record taking the pro-life side on several legal issues that have come before the courts on which he serves. And top conservatives are praising his record.

Matt Schlapp, the chairman of the American Conservative Union and CPAC, said Kavanaugh would be a “bold, brilliant Supreme Court justice,” Breitbart reports.

“Kavanaugh is not another Roberts; he’s another Scalia, Alito, or Gorsuch. In fact, on issues such as reining in the administrative state, he is arguably more conservative than even those three highly regarded justices,” Schlapp said.

In an op-ed for The Hill, he continued:

There are many examples of Kavanaugh’s willingness to take a stand…. He dissented from a decision that upheld the ObamaCare contraceptive mandate. He explained that public prayer at official government ceremonies is constitutional. And he sided with the Trump administration in a high-profile abortion case, dissenting from what he called a “radical” majority opinion that invented “a new right for unlawful immigrant minors in U.S. government detention to obtain immediate abortion on demand.”

Conservative political commentator Ann Coulter also defended Kavanaugh as a solid conservative, the Daily Caller reports. She defnded his time working for pro-life President George W. Bush.

“It’s absurd to call Kavanaugh a ‘Bushie’ as the idiots are doing on Twitter,” she said. “Where else would a very smart conservative lawyer work, if he cared about the country? Bush was president — he was the only game in town. Kavanaugh … has a track record on the bench to prove it.”

Here’s more from the Daily Caller:

Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher partner Miguel Estrada echoed those sentiments, telling Ed Whelan at National Review that attacks on Kavanaugh’s record are “deranged.” Estrada was once seen as a future Republican Supreme Court nominee, until Senate Democrats blocked his nomination for the D.C. Circuit during the George W. Bush administration.

Whelan, a prominent conservative legal commentator who has been disseminating information about all candidates under consideration, published a comprehensive review of the judge’s record in a series of July 4 posts.

Carrie Severino, chief counsel for the conservative Judicial Crisis Network, echoed the praise, saying Kavanaugh and the other candidates on Trump’s list all are excellent candidates for the high court.

Kavanaugh recently agreed with the Trump administration that the government does not have to help facilitate abortions for illegal immigrant minors. He also ruled against the Obama HHS mandate that forced Hobby Lobby, Little Sisters of the Poor and other Christian-run businesses and organizations to fund drugs that may cause abortions in their employee health care plans.

Sarah Pitlyk, a former law clerk to Kavanaugh and special counsel for the Thomas More Society, a leading pro-life legal group, says the judge has perhaps the best record of any of the finalists Trump is considering. She noted that Kavanaugh has an extensive record of protecting religious liberty and enforcing abortion restrictions.

“On these issues, as on so many others, he has fought for his principles and stood firm against pressure,” Pitlyk said. “He would do the same on the Supreme Court.”

Trump is expected to announce his choice on July 9.

From this transcript

Why did Brett Kavanaugh ask Patrick Knowlton if the suspicious man had touched his genitals? Why did these prosecutors stoop to that level to discredit a witness? Patrick Knowlton saw something very significant in the parking lot. Other witnesses saw the same thing – an old brown car, with Arkansas license plates, not Foster's newer, gray car.

Mr. Foster was already dead when witnesses saw the brown car. This fact proves the official story – that Vincent Foster drove to the park and shot himself – is false.

The strategy of Starr's prosecutors was to convince the grand jury that witnesses, like Patrick Knowlton, had not been harassed. During Patrick Knowlton's grand jury testimony, Brett Kavanaugh said, "Tell us about the alleged harassment, Mr. Knowlton." Knowlton responded, "it was not alleged, it happened."

FBI agent Russell Bransford served the subpoena on Knowlton and later intimidated and harassed him. At the grand jury, Knowlton repeatedly asked Bates and Kavanaugh to tell him who had sent FBI agent Bransford to his home. Kavanaugh responded twice that they were not there to answer Knowlton's questions. When Knowlton adamantly asked again, John Bates, who was seated behind Patrick, said, "We sent Bransford." Patrick Knowlton tells us how his grand jury testimony ended.

Who knows if there was any evidence to prove Vince Foster didn't die in the park he was found in?

He did rule as John Roberts did on Obamacare. That is the only major flaw in his record.

At this point of history I care about illegal immigration more than abortion. If sovereignty of our country is cracking up, nothing is important. Barrett as lady may not have mental strength when it comes to illegal( children) immigration. I don’t want a lady to guard the legal gate of our country. It requires hard man to do it

Agree 100%. Until we repel the invasion and reconquer the Southwest nothing can get done.

And it is a flaw others on the list don’t have.

Give us a justice from outside uniparty presidential circles.

I would like a rock solid conservative state supreme court justice that comes from an elected state. That tells the tale.

Men who accept being deprived of the right to protect their own family - including between conception and birth - are not going to have a sense of their nation since nation is an extension of family.

Kavanaugh is the one with a dissent against an assault weapons ban on record. That's the kind of Second Amendment support we're looking for.

Empirical SCOTUS blog sees Brett Kavanaugh as likely SCOTUS nominee
ABA Journal, American Bar Association ^ | December 12, 2017 | Debra Cassens Weiss
Kavanaugh would be attractive to conservatives because of positions he took on two hot-button issues: gun rights and abortion. Kavanaugh dissented when the appeals court rejected a challenge to a Washington, D.C., ban on assault weapons enacted after the Supreme Court found an individual right to own guns under the Second Amendment. Kavanaugh also dissented when the full D.C. Circuit required the U.S. government to allow an abortion for a 17-year-old immigrant who was being held in a shelter because she is in the country illegally.

that is a big flaw and shows his stance on the constitutionality of such things like Obamacare
