Barrett is too inexperienced. It's like trying to handicap a two-year old maiden at the race track. Could be good, could be a bust.

You make a fair point. Consider, however, that Clarence Thomas had only been a judge for 1 year when he was nominated, while Anthony Kennedy & David Souter had been judges for 12 years. From what I read about Barrett, I'm getting more of a Thomas vibe than a Kennedy/Souter one.

Shut up and learn somethin. In Khalil v. Holder, Kethledge upheld a finding that the petitioner was not entitled to asylum because he was not a credible witness. Kethledge pointed out multiple inconsistencies in the petitioner's story that undermined his asylum claim.

In Japarkulova v. Holder, Kethledge recognized—over a dissent from a liberal judge—that courts must defer to the executive branch's determination that an immigrant is not eligible for asylum. Even though the petitioner had a compelling life story, Kethledge upheld the law.

In Mora v. Holder, the petitioner entered the US legally at age 14 but then overstayed his visa. Kethledge noted that if the petitioner had been a citizen, “we would call him a model one.” But Judge Kethledge recognized that the courts lacked authority to grant him relief.

In his more than 10 years on the bench, Judge Kethledge has encountered hundreds of immigration cases. He shows no favoritism to immigrants--or to the government, for that matter--and instead focuses only on applying the laws passed by Congress as they are written. Kethledge paid his own way through law school after working as a waiter and (new) car salesman. He delivered pizzas for Dominos and did landscaping during college. And he’s spent the last 3+ decades in Michigan. He would bring some much needed perspective from middle America.

Take Coulter and shove her up your ass.

Ann said Trump was a shallow, lazy ignoramus recently.....and I’m supposed to care what this woman thinks? Go away Ann, and get a real job.

Why don't you shut up and learn something:

https://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2018/07/03/conservatives-concerned-judge-on-trumps-scotus-shortlist-could-be-next-anthony-kennedy/

These question marks over Kethledge’s approach to constitutional law gave the legal experts with which Breitbart News discussed the matter pause over his consideration for a lifetime appointment to the nation’s highest court, especially when some other names reputedly on President Trump’s shortlist raised no such misgivings.

###

Given the long history of even solid-seeming conservative jurists giving conservatives cause for regret once seated on the Supreme Court, those sources familiar with Kethledge who spoke with Breitbart News emphasized their preference over him for candidates like these, about whom there are no doubts of their philosophical commitment to originalism and judicial restraint.

Re: “I’m liking Amy Comey Barrett a lot.”

Personally, I am always worried about the Conservative stamina of women and minorities - unless they have a long public record.

Passionate, long term Conservatives like Clarence Thomas, Margaret Thatcher, Thomas Sowell, and Michelle Malkin are rare, almost one of a kind.

It disturbs me that Barrett has such a short appellate record.

As to Kavanaugh, I have read that he has been allied with the Bush family for many years. Not a good start.

And, just a couple months ago, Gorsuch threw us a political curve ball when he voted with the four Leftists on “ambiguous” language that had been settled immigration law for more than 50 years.

I am glad that Trump is choosing Judges - and not Hillary - but I still do not have high confidence in Trump's judicial choices.

Trump's new White House consul decided to reinstate the tradition of letting Senators choose federal judges that will sit in the District Courts that include the Senator's state.

Since the first of the year, Trump has nominated at least three federal judges who were selected by Democrat Senators and were confirmed without any Democrat opposition.

These are the same Democrats who have corrupted the DOJ and FBI, and they have vowed to remove Trump from office.

And Trump is letting them choose federal judges?

Mon Dieu!

Even crazy Coulter is right on this one. Kavanaugh is the documented supporter of our Second Amendment. It's on record with his dissent on a case. He's the only one with a record of his opposition against an assault weapons ban.

Empirical SCOTUS blog sees Brett Kavanaugh as likely SCOTUS nominee

Kavanaugh would be attractive to conservatives because of positions he took on two hot-button issues: gun rights and abortion. Kavanaugh dissented when the appeals court rejected a challenge to a Washington, D.C., ban on assault weapons enacted after the Supreme Court found an individual right to own guns under the Second Amendment. Kavanaugh also dissented when the full D.C. Circuit required the U.S. government to allow an abortion for a 17-year-old immigrant who was being held in a shelter because she is in the country illegally.

(Excerpt) Read more at abajournal.com ...

Yet, a small mob of religious male feminists is going on and on with their fallacies against the two documented Second Amendment supporters. Their hysteria is out of sexual character and disgusting indeed in contrast with logic. Some of them have even referred to mythical testimony from a transsexual as an argument for putting another woman on the Supreme Court.

How do you feel about people who run for President who have no prior public service or record? Very risky, right? Never know where they may land on issues.

Thank you Onyx. I appreciate the mention. I’m not wedded to her as a choice yet, but I’ve liked what I’ve seen so far.

That “too Catholic” comment was just terrible. That’s so anti-Constitutional and mean.

Checking out the YouTube clip now.

Franky was all loaded for bear. Sadly for him, he was up against an educated articulate woman.

Her comment about a known reputable firm willing to work as co-council with the entity in question, was an excellent notation.

No top drawer law firm is going to saddle up with a hate group. It would damage their firm.

As for the SPLC, I suspect they toss out labels to every group right of center, especially if they defend the U. S. Constitution.

He also addressed the issue of the unborn.

There was a lot of talk about defunding Planned Parenthood.

Reasoned thoughts...

Thanks for the post.

I’ll keep these things in mind.

If she has been known as a conservative Lecturer in her classes and her presentations, I suspect she’s pretty rock solid.

She doesn’t seem like a wishy washy type person.

We’ll see how it plays out.

I don’t think the President can unilaterally cut off funds for Planned Parenthood.

Trump has tried to allow the House and Senate to step in and lead the way now that they have the majority. They have refused to do it.

They have actually refused to do much of anything.

As for the wall, once again Trump has waited for Congress to get off it’s ass and fund it.

I have no doubt Trump will find a way to get Mexico to directly or indirectly to pay for that wall.

We’re talking about a minuscule cost out of the budget, that will be repaid in time. We can withhold aid to Mexico or place a small tax on money transfers.

Congress refuses to get off it’s rear once again.

While I don’t like it when presidents promise one thing and don’t do it, if you’re living by the Constitution all you can do is explain what your goals are, but Congress has to fund the project.

These are some of the reasons why I hold Ryan and McConnell in contempt.

Re: “Who are the three judges?”

I read about this subject at Free Republic, but I can't recall the author or the publication. I'll search for the exact link when I have more time.

From memory...

Richard Sullivan - approved by both New York Senators - I thought he got confirmed, but Wiki says no vote yet.

Michael Scudder - approved by both Illinois Senators - confirmed 90-0.

Amy St. Eve - approved by both Illinois Senators - confirmed 91-0.
