The Department of Justice (DOJ) revealed a plea deal Tuesday to Imran Awan former IT staffer for top House Democrats which states the federal government found no evidence that Awan violated federal law with respect to House computer systems. The plea deal states:
The Government has uncovered no evidence that your client violated federal law with respect to the House computer systems. Particularly, the Government has found no evidence that your client illegally removed House data from the House network or from House Members offices, stole the House Democratic Caucus Server, stole or destroyed House information technology equipment, or improperly accessed or transferred government information, including classified or sensitive information.
The DOJs offer allows Awan to plead guilty to making a false statement on a loan or credit application; a violation of 18 U.S. Code § 1014. Although the crime carries a maximum sentence of 30 years imprisonment and a fine possibly exceeding $1,000,000 with restitution and interest penalties, the DOJ estimates a prison sentence of between zero and six months and a fine between $500 and $9,500 in the event of Awans acceptance of its terms.
The offer includes dismissal of all charges against Awans wife, Hina Alvi, listed in an August-issued indictment. It expires at the end of the day.
Awan, a Pakistani national, managed IT services for more than 20 congressional Democrats, including former DNC chairwoman Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL) over several years.

No one has been indicted.
Bttt!
So much for that information.
Something is fishy here.
What in the hell is going on???
Just finally starting to figure it out eh? You should have started with the Trust But Verify approach before insisting to everyone for almost a year now that Mueller was such a great guy secretly going after Hillary, and insulting everyone who disagreed.
So how much longer before you also finally realize youve been the deep states #1 stooge and owe the board (and world) a huge apology? Unfortunately it will probably take a while longer, since youre so heavily invested in your Mueller fantasy. If we ever get an apology at all.
So sending all those government laptops and Iphones to friends and family in Pakistan wasn’t illegal? Didn’t violate federal law? I’d post more but I’m going to my local National Guard to “stock up”.
No, wait. This is the Jeff Sessions DOJ. Incompetent. Inept. Incoherent.
On second thought, totally believable.
I readily accept your apology.
I think this is going past the point of stupidity to willful participation in a conspiracy - Jeff Sessions is corrupt, vile evil swamp dweller those defending him are fools. Oh and he still blows goats.
I figured as much. Even you must realize its too late at this point to salvage any dignity.
Your undignified apology is accepted. You’re welcome.
No idea what the note said Awan left with Debbie’s laptop but it has to be good.
She demanded “the member” get the laptop back before she claimed it wasn’t hers.
Golden Eagle,
I think the position you have taken is unreasonable. I have never met LS personally but I have enjoyed his contributions since the early days.
During the Trump cycle he was relied upon due to media insider connection. Posters often demanded a detailed opinion from him.
After most of his primary and general election predictions proved true then the demands for insider opinions became more strident and LS complied. He gave his opinions. Eventually there were those who disagreed. So what. If he seemed flip or snide in a forum response where have you been the last twenty years on this forum. We all get offended or bump others ourselves.
I disagreed with his predictions on Roy Moores Election Day results. I was right and he was wrong. So what.
With the opinions he shares with us he charges zero. Why lambast him. Snort at him, ignore him or applaud but why get nasty he might take the our side on an issue two years from now. Life is short forum fellowship is forever.
I see no reason that you and I need to agree on this.
Posters that are frank about their public person on FR are always treated this way. David Horowitz was harassed off the site as was Mark Levin, long before he was a never trumper. I’ve watched it for twenty years. Normal posters are as opinionated, snarky and off hand as they want to be and no one gives a damn.
Political prosecutions generally rebound on the prosecutor in America. And American politics is always forward looking as opposed to concentrating on the sins of the past, regardless of how corrupt and egregious those sins are. Thats because these are D.C. issues that impact the power brokers, not the people in their daily lives. The winners of elections are those who concentrate effectively on the needs of the voters.
Trump is going to concentrate on the big prize, which would be increasing his political power in the midterms...which would be an unheard-of victory and if he pulled it off, itd be transformative - hed actually have his own party behind him fully for the first time. The Democrats are not being helped by the Mueller effort, And Trump would not be helped by a political prosecution of his enemies either. Those things energize and unit the opposition behind a single banner. The Democrats dont appear united right now, and they dont appear particularly energized, relative to Trump support, either.
If Trump pulls off an upset (of tradition) in the midterms, I expect plenty of high level turnover at DOJ...but prosecutions? Well, maybe of lower-level minions like Strzok and Page, maybe even McCabe, but theres no percentage politically in pursuing justice against powerful figures who are now relegated to history, out of jobs, out of office, out of power. It is better to be forward looking, solving what the people see as problems, not looking at sins of the past, regardless of how corrupt and egregious they were.
When you vote corrupt people into power, and when their opposition is corrupt and milktoast themselves (McCain, Romney, Ryan, Bush et.al.), then you pay the price...theres no practical, effective recourse...so DONT vote them in in the first place. That is the real lesson here. In the American system, you have to be careful who you give power to, there is no escaping that. If you choose badly, you might very well lose the American system. So if you are on the side of good...if you are white hats, WIN the damned elections until you eliminate the corrupt.
This is maddening. I’m hopeful that our current DOJ will reopen this case and prosecute this spy. Of course, they would most likely have to prosecute the representatives he “worked” for. I’m not going to hold my breath.
